New London Chamber Choir and London Sinfonietta under James Weeks celebrates its thirtieth birthday with a programme of visionary idealism. James Weeks' new work for chorus and instrumental ensemble uses texts by the seventeent-century English radical Gerrard Winstanley, founder of the community of Diggers. American idealism is represented by William Billings' robust and touching anthems and by Christopher Fox's early masterpiece 'American Choruses', which takes inspiration from four pioneers of American experimental music and sets texts by Allen Ginsberg. (Note: at 6.30pm James Weeks discusses his new work.)
