Being an SW resident sometimes the far flung plains of East London take me some convincing to visit, but when I’m there I love it. If you ever find yourself at a loose end near Stratford and all shopped out from the Westfield I recommend taking a little trip through the grounds of the Olympic park and past the velodrome over the road to the Hackney marshes. Granted I have only seen it covered in 20k runners ahead of the Hackney Half marathon but it’s a really nice big green area away from the roads, traffic and city lights but still within walking distance to lots of cool places. An east end oasis.

Huge wide open spaces, parkland and scrubland. Such far reaching green spaces that are quite unexpected for London. Canals passing through the middle offering awesome walks throughout East London. Perfect spaces for large groups, picnics / football / games / running / jogging / dog walking / peak-pushing! A real gem of a green space

Every time I see this massive field, I just wanna jump and run! It's huuuge! You can do so much here on a beautiful sunny day! A great spot for watching sunset :)
