46b Espresso Hut Homerton, 2015

Time Out says

Blink and you might miss it. With just five tables inside and a few seats out front, 46b is on the small side. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for with bags of charm and very good coffee.

Open since 2012, it’s got a loyal local following. The friendly owners know everyone: mums drop in with their kids for a chat, nurses from nearby Homerton hospital refuel after night duty and everyone else is welcome. Espressos are skilfully made with Square Mile’s Red Brick beans; a macchiato delivered reviving citrus bite.

E5 Bakehouse supplies the bread for sandwiches and toasties with fillings like chorizo, cheddar and chutney or marinated peppers with feta and mint. Cakes, including gluten-free orange, walnut and olive oil are baked on site. There’s a homespun feel to the decor; bright pot plants line the shelves, stools are made from old crates – which all adds to the appeal.

Tiny but lovely. A nice place to have some (really good) coffee, and the staff is super friendly. Also, they have some really good playlists. 46b espresso hut, if you're reading this - can you hook me up with your music? Thanks.

Amazing coffee, delicious sandwiches and glorious cakes. The staff are super friendly to boot!

What better way to watch people go by than sitting in the autumn sunshine with a perfect coffee and freshly-made spanakopita. This has been our favourite for years!

I really dig this place. I've been here twice, for the food, and each time the toasties rocked my world. I can't recall the first I got but the second time (Saturday), I got a courgette, feta and pesto toastie on toasted grain bread. SO. GOOD. The bread was perfect, with a light crunch but just soft enough to savour the multi-grain taste. The feta practically melted in your mouth. My husband got an espresso and greatly enjoyed it as well as the chocolate banana bread (I thought it was a bit dry).

The decor is pretty cool: mirrors of different sizes hanging everywhere, with indie music playing. There are a few benches outside and some tables inside. The atmosphere is super chill and dogs are welcome. I would defo return!

Love this place - good coffee (although sometimes a little strong for me!), great food and a very friendly atmosphere. I like looking at all the interesting plants they have around the cafe.

simply the best coffee and toasted sarnie around - and really friendly and knowledgeable staff

simply the best coffee shop in entire London. Very friendly staffs, delicious food menus and relaxing atmosphere!

Best coffee in London along with delicious sandwiches and cake selection. Oh and the owners are magical.

There's a reason why it's called 46b Espresso Hut - it's a tiny, intimate space. My coffee tasted a little burnt sadly. After posting my review on Instagram, the owners invited me to come back so that they could show me how they made their coffee. I really appreciate it when business owners try hard to understand their customers so kudos to them but for me it is a long way to go for a coffee!
