There's a focus on the food of Alexandria, in Egypt, at this swanky Kensington restaurant and bar. It's all served in a chic dining room kitted out with intricate, ornate chandeliers and huge, bright artwork. Seats at the bar offer views of cocktails being made.
Starters range from lentil soup with lemon balm and garlic croutons to traditional Alexandrian Farsi peppers with delicately-spiced minced lamb and rice. Mains include slow-roasted lamb shank infused with mild Egyptian spices, and traditional slow-cooked okra in a tomato, garlic and coriander sauce. Desserts feature spices, too. Expect lime and cardamom possets and cinnamon flans.
A varied wine list mixes the old world and new, complemented by champagne, prosecco and classic cocktails such as mojitos, manhattans and martinis. Beers by the bottle include Peroni, Moretti, Estrella and Viru - an Estonian pilsner.
