I went for the Beef Bibimbap, which is served in a hot stone plate and comes with an array of vegetables and a fried egg on top. As usual, there isn’t much meat included in this dish, which makes the addition of the fried egg a good balance. I liked that the yolk of the egg was runny and that the surrounding white was slightly runny too. As for the vegetables, it was quite a typical range – courgettes, mushrooms, carrots, spinach and bean sprouts.

The lunch set menu includes a bowl of miso soup as well as three fried meat dumplings with chili sauce drizzled on top. The dumplings were pretty flavourful but I personally prefer steamed or boiled dumplings to fried ones.

My mother went with the Garlic Beef, which consisted of sirloin beef slices marinated in a heavy garlic and sesame oil seasoning, a bowl of rice, miso soup and three fried dumplings too. Personally, the cut of beef used was too oily for my liking and although I love the taste of garlic, the seasoning on this was a bit too heavy.

Along with our lunch set choices, we were served side dishes. These included one of kimchi, one of potato salad with a mustard-mayo dressing, and seasoned bean sprouts. All were delicious but we both thought the bean sprouts were a little too salty.

In addition to all that, I also ordered a serving of Spicy Rice Cakes because I had been craving them for the longest time. This serving came with Korean rice cakes, a slice of fish cake, a hard-boiled egg, and ramen noodles all tossed in a spicy sauce. I liked that the sauce was actually quite spicy and how much of the rice cakes they gave. Being the foodie that I am, I actually managed to finish this off despite telling myself I would save some to takeaway and bring home.

My mother was pretty impressed with the quality and authenticity of the food here and I thought the staff were lovely. Our waitress was very friendly and helped recommend my mother’s choice of dish. The portion sizes were good and their lunch set menu really is worth it for central London.

Great little place in Soho for not too expensive food that tastes great. For best results, order a mix and match for the table to try collectively, and include their hearty Korean rice in clay pot with vegetables, hot sauce and more. Other favourites include the seafood pancake, the sweet chilli beef sizzling with onions and, why not, some great glass noodles.

Central soho.  Korean BBQ.  Cheap lunch deals... what else is there to say? Oh, how bout friendly service, great food and always consistently amazing. It's full of koreans, which always makes me feel like I'm in the right place AND the waitstaff are always willing to help you figure out the best parts of the menu. What a great alternative to King's Court in Carnaby!
