The real selling point of Azzurro is the location. Set in the arches at Waterloo it's two minutes from the station and the same distance from the South Bank. Perfect location if your coming from or to the station or about to see a show at the National Theatre. The food was fine, nothing special, but not bad. We tried the calamari and garlic bread for starters, followed by the tagliatelle funghi and ischia pizza. The pasta was a little too creamy, but the pizza was layered with good helpings of cured ham and mozzarella - yummy! Azzurro was a little let down by the service and ambience. The waiters made us feel neglected at times, leaving us with a dessert menu for about 20 minutes. The air con also makes a rather annoying buzzing noice, which apparently cant be changed and does rather spoil the restaurant. This place is great for a quick bite, particularly if you have a tastecard to use, as the 241 discount makes it great value, but don't expect much more and I wouldn't recommend for a special occasion.
