If you are in rush and craving for some tasty Thai - their chicken and soy sauce dumplings as a starter and chicken pad thai as main will hit the spot.

Wouldn't recommend their Laksa as not mild enough and missing the best bit which is the soft boiled  egg on top.

I am not a big fan of chains but Banana Tree has stayed relatively small and is a reliable staple for meeting friends after work for a fast, tasty and reasonable supper. The portions are generous and the lychee mocktail is highly addictive!

Standard issue, Thai chain restaurant. Great option when we were in a rush to get to Sadler’s Wells for a spot of culture but not somewhere for a special occasion. Vegetable spring rolls and aubergine curry were best of the bunch.

Called ahead of time asking if they put sugar in their seen curry (sounds crazy I know but most Thai restaurants do) . They came back and said definitely not. I ordered via Deliveroo in good faith. Received my delivery and it's so sweet it's like dessert! I called again and spoke to the manager and he admitted to putting golden syrup in the curry. Syrup! When I questioned him he said I asked about sugar, not syrup?! He doesn't understand that syrup is 100% sugar!!! Total waste of money.

Really delicious meal, good service. Expect to queue a little as the evening goes on but it's well worth the wait. We particularly liked the decoration and the orangutan in the window. The sweet and sour chicken was the best I'd had in a while.

Went to the Covent Garden branch rather than the Angel branch (in case there's any wild variation) and have to say I was pleased with the range of food on offer (am Coeliac so am used to having limited options). My only compliant would be to say the service was a little slow but other than that had a good time. They also do a 2 for 1 on main courses Mon-Thursday which I wasn't aware of so hope to come back and make use of it.

Having visited other Banana Tree's in London before, I had high expectations when visiting the Angel branch last week. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. The spicy papaya salad came dry without a single chilli and the mains (duck curry and the banana tree spiced noodles) both came with overbearing sauces. There also only seemed to be two waiting staff for the entire busy restaurant on a Friday night which didn't help. I think it was due to a bad night rather than a bad restaurant, so I'll definitely continue to visit other Banana Tree's in the future. Toilets were a 6/10!

The food here is delicious and, after much deliberation as there were many dishes I wanted to try, I went for The Banana Tree Laksa - it was a good choice and I though the way the dish had been spiced was beautiful.  Our waiter was very attentive and also very helpful.  The atmosphere is nice and there is a good buzz.

Banana Tree was a lovely restaurant, right after I entered I noticed the incredibly inviting atmosphere from the decorations to the music. All of the staff members where very knowledgable in regards to the menu, not to mention very friendly and willing to help. The food was ready in not time, and at the same time it was filled with flavor. The restaurant had many other people which is why I was so impressed with the speed of the service, I definitely recommend this restaurant and would love to return.

We come here from work very frequently as it's super convenient. The lunch menu is excellent value (£5-7 for a main meal) and the portions are massive. The service has always been friendly and quick.

I've only ever had the bunbo chicken salad bowl (massive, amazing, delicious - but cannot be considered a healthy salad as it even has spring rolls!) and the mango and lime crispy chicken; equally as yummy but now second favourite to the bun bo.

If you're looking for a good value lunch in Angel, look no further.

Visited here for lunch the other day for the first time, despite having worked nearby for a couple of years. They do a great express lunch menu for £6-7 (which in Angel is very good value) with a range of curries and noodle dishes from across South Asia. I had the chilli, ginger & basil tofu - a ginorous portion packed full of tofu and lots of fresh chillies. The side salad with crushed nuts was also tasty. Will definitely go back!
