My wife booked us a reservation for the
Saturday 8 July 2017 for 2 people at 18:30. It was to celebrate my 31st
birthday and also starting a new job the upcoming Monday. It had also
been on her list of restuarants to visit (more so for the decor rather
than food)so it only added to the exicitment we felt for that evening.
Upon arrival we were seen to by reception and then led down to the 'caves' of the restuarant. It was really dark and we could hear the shouting from the kitchen. Not particularly a great ambiance but we didn't let it hinder our enjoyment. Water was offered which we accepted, which was regularly topped up. Air conditioning was very low for 30+ celcious weather, so we asked for it to be cranked up. Drinks and food arrived within reasonable time. Only complaint here is that my wifes meal of Mushroom risotto was burning hot..that she had to wait before trying it again by which point I had already half way finished with my own dish.
Still feeling quite celebratory, I thought I'd indulge ourselves with dessert to share between ourselves. I ordered Apple pie with custard. The cutlery arrived first and we noticed that it still had some red food residue on it, so we asked for a cleaner one. Then dessert arrived and the size was quite large with custard in a small container to pour ourselves. As I poured the custard onto the pie, my Wife noticed black bits coming out also. At first, she thought that it was from vanilla pods that they may have used but ntoiced that it wasn't consistant. She went to examine the pot further and pulled out one bit, then looked into the apple pie dish and on the spoon was another part. Keep in mind this was in the very dimly lit "caves"of the restuarant.
She placed them under the table lamp, where it was very, very apparent that the two parts was the body(husk and legs) and the head. We were disgusted, shocked and upset and you can imagine. We waited for the waiter and told him, he apologised and although seemed shocked at our unwanted discovery, he didin't seem suprised by it which makes us think that kitchen staff and in lieu management know about this dirty problem. He thereupon, called his Manager who apologised and said that our meal was complimentary. He left so abruptly that he didint bother hearing us out on any our concerns or quiries. At this point we are feeling nauseated and angry.
Upon us leaving we encountered him again, and he then said that he'll contact us(He didin't) all the while more customers were continuing eating their contaminated food and more were coming in. Obviously, finding cockcroaches does not warrant an emergency at their establishment and they continue to be in operation right now. I would not have expected such service and cleanlinness issues with such a well known 'posh' restuarant in Nottinghill! They should shut down their restuarant and get pest control in and have a complete clean out/disinfect. Rethink their cleaning attitudes and procedures/policies and should have impromptu visits from Food Health agency.
Went here for a cocktail which was delicious - slightly pricey at £12 but worth it. The atmosphere in the bar was good. Lots of good decor around to look at and a buzzing vibe. The only thing that let it down was the service - when we asked for a table the matrodee suggested we find or own table... except there weren't any that weren't already reserved. It took about 10 mins for one of the many staff members to finally seat us. It was difficult getting the bill as well. Could have just been a busy night but slightly frustrating!
Seems like people reviewing are always those who are unhappy which is a shame. I always celebrate my birthdays at BBB and I love the place. The service is excellent, the managers really get involved to make sure everything goes smoothly. They are famous for their amazing drinks and music is always good. I love BBB
My favourite London bar! BBB Notting Hill is classy, serves the best cocktails including their famous Pornstar Martini, staff are a little slow but those cocktails are worth the wait. Their dj is fantastic and has everyone dancing on a Friday night and the food is to die for. I have also visited their Shoreditch branch which is totally different but equally fab but the Notting Hill branch is still my fave London bar. 5 star!!!!
Absolutely appalling service. We pre-booked and pre-ordered our 3 course meal, our table was booked for 9.30pm and we didn't get seated until 10:40pm. Only half of our parties starters arrived at 11pm. With the other half getting told that there was an 'accident' in the kitchen and their food was dropped on the floor! They offered an alternative and the rest of our party got their starter at 11:20pm. Mains came out at 11:55pm, and the beef was rare when I asked for medium to well-done & a few others who had ordered chicken were missing part of theirs. When bringing up the menu to the waitress asking where their extra food was they got no sympathy and were told they didn't have any left. We were extremely angry by this point especially seen as our waitress didn't want to listen to us so spent 30 minutes complaining to the manager who only said he would take the 12.5% service charge off! For a big party who had pre-ordered their food and booked a table for 9:30pm not actually getting their food until 11pm is a disgrace!!! Would never go back!!
truly the WORST bar staff in notting hill... they all THINK they are too cool and important to be serving drinks. takes forever to get served and when you finally do, you are given major attitude. The food is also overpriced and distinctly average. dont waste your money, there are far better bars/restaurants with lovely staff and amazing food just a street away.
Oh dear, difficult to know what to say about this place. Either I am completely mad and all the reviews I saw on another site are genuine or ... The food was okay, not great but okay, the waiting staff seemed totally fed up and for the extortionate price and lack of customer service it is just not worth the trek (for me, anyway) to Notting Hill. Avoid!
