I took my husband here for a cheap and cheerful breakfast- and that it what it was. Amazingly cheap and lovely friendly staff. The food was very homely, you don't go here for fancy food but for your basics and well cooked meals. I really enjoyed my VLT- vegan, lettuce, tomato toastie... and my lemon chia seed cake too. Worth a visit especially for brunch just make sure you have cash because anything under £10 cannot be paid via debit/credit cards.

I walked into here last week and was going to go for a mix of the butternut squash and lentils but the establishment doesn’t accept card for less than £10. If you don’t wish to join the 21st century, will (and did!) gladly take my business elsewhere.

Cooolest staff ever. We had a minor prosecco accident during our celebration lunch, and the ladies were absolute dolls about it. Thank you!

Just love this place ! Great, quirky coffee shop with brilliant variety of food and drink . Lovely friendly staff and good music. My son and his friends love it too. Can't wait to go back there on my next visit to New Cross.

Amazing decort, lovely staff and the best breakfast in London.
Nothing but love for this place!

They sell the best cafe in the world!!! You must try the Jaffa cake!!!
Its really friendly with an open and light ambience. I often come here to work on my laptop.

Had a wonderful breakfast there. The shop is so cute and the design is quite original. The food is truly heaven.

More like Birdie Nom Nom, because it’s bloody delicious.

Birdie is a tiny little place that doesn’t look like much but is a little gem waiting to be discovered. With a nice décor inspired by street fests, this restaurant has a nice, relaxed vibe. Staff is extremely friendly and food is great. Try the Sunday brunch options, you won’t regret it.

A nice place to have in the books when you’re around New Cross.

A nice atmosphere but sadly a fairly basic breakfast compared to other eateries on this strip.

A once very lovely albeit pricy place to eat but over my recent visits has been hugely lacking in options. The menu has only a handful of options and the food is quite bland and certainly nothing special given the price. They no longer have the sandwich options, one thing I could usually count on as being safe and tasty. Portions are decent but the chilli spaghetti was far too salty and otherwise boring. Same with the fish finger sandwiches. Disappointing as they're so close to uni and were my go-to place for impressing friends that came to visit.

This place is possibly the cutest little cafe in South East London. It's shabby chic interior features cute doilies on the tables, and tea served in little cups and saucers. The choice of snacks and meals is great, and they support the local community with the produce they use. An absolute winner in my eyes! It's perfect for just sitting on your own with a good book, and watching the world go by!
