Bakery and café in Balham's Hildreth Street market.

This bakery and café in Balham's Hildreth Street market is a branch of a small chain with branches across south London such as Herne Hill and Crystal Palace. The breads and baking are fine, if not a very extensive range. The breakfast selection is very limited, with no hot food, unless you count toast (topped with, for example, smashed avocado). Our coffee was mediocre when compared to other excellent options available nearby. As a breakfast and brunch spot it has a very long way to go to approach the standards of M1lk or Brickwood Café, which are also on Hildreth Street. It does, however, not have the queues of its neighbours.

A great café. Super sausage rolls, refreshing and tasty smoothies too. Their turmeric smoothie is particularly delicious.

Good food and good coffee, however can be slightly overpriced. Particularly the coffee!

Really great granola to eat in or takeaway! It doesn't taste overly processed or sweet like the store bought granola options. The coffee at Blackbird is also decent if you don't want to wait in the queues at Brickwood or Milk. I've never eaten the other food, but the toasted sandwiches in the window look delicious!
