A British bistro at the Montague on The Gardens boutique hotel, in Bloomsbury. The menu features a selection of seasonal British dishes, though classic French dishes also feature. Meals are served in a dining room that harks back to the hotel's 19th century inception.

The kitchen is headed up by Martin Halls, whose menu also boasts influence from Beatrice Tollman, President and Founder of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection. Sustainable and local sourcing plays an important part across the menu, and many dishes feature ingredients plucked from the bistro's own herb garden. 

Keep an eye out for afternoon teas and seasonal specials, including the Montague Ski Lodge, free-flowing Champagne afternoon teas and lessons in sabrage - the art of opening a Champagne bottle with a sabre. The hotel boasts an impressive cigar terrace, too.

The Blue Door Bistro at The Montague on the Gardens, in the heart of Bloomsbury and steps from the British Museum, provides a welcoming and informal bistro-style setting, with a fantastic à la carte menu to match. Light and airy at lunchtime, cosy by evening, with rich mahogany-panelled walls, effective use of mirrored glass and contemporary wrought iron wall lights, a warm and welcoming ambience is beautifully achieved.

Executive chef, Martin Halls, blends the freshest of seasonal ingredients and herbs from the herb garden with classical preparation techniques to create vibrant seasonal British menus. Chose this place for a midweek dinner pre conference for 10-15. Most helpful staff beforehand, very organised. Good unassuming service, thorough, helpful. Food v good indeed. Not sure how you get it into the £25 price bracket though....with wine about 60. But still decent value.
