This nice little place opened in November 2011 and it’s a big hit with young locals. It’s easy to see why they come. From the copper lamp fittings to the quirky decor to the massive windows giving a full view of the street scene, this is very pleasant place to while away an hour or two. There’s just one coffee on offer, Union Coffee Roasters’ Revelation blend, and it’s well handled with just one complaint: the cup wasn’t hot enough, so inevitably the brew wasn’t, either. The food ranges from cooked breakfasts to sandwiches, baked spuds and a daily soup and salad. Plus the inevitable baked goods, most of them made on the premises.

My favourite thing about Bread and Bean is that it feels like the community coffee shop. The coffee is decent and the chocolate cookie hits the spot when you are craving something sweet. There are plenty of good options for cakes, but as far as the breakfast/brunch menu is concerned the options are standard and made without much creativity. I had the scrambled eggs with spinach on toast and it just tasted exactly like what it was.

Regardless, I enjoyed my experience. It's a great place to catch-up with a friend and when your friend goes to the loo, you'll be entertained as the locals come-and-go with their dogs.

Bread and bean was a great find, just around the corner from the station. The staff were absolutely lovely, provided me with a clean table and great service. They use Union coffee beans so it's a nice fruity blend. Mine wasn't hot which was disappointing. I sat at a small table and a stranger joined in without really even asking which put me off a bit. I had the Guinness cake and it was fantastic.

Absolutely incredible cafe.
1. The unbelievably friendly staff make take this place to a new level.
2. As a freelancer, I have had *many* flat whites all over London. This place takes the #1 spot for me.
3. The menu is fantastic; I know a fair few people to travel serious distances to frequent for a delicious breakfast or lunch.
4. Brilliant vibe. Rustic and homely.

Favourite coffee joint in Archway. Community feel, wonderful staff and great coffee. Like how your local should be... They know your order, they don't push product and you feel welcome every day.

It's surrounded by chains which fall short of all the above.

Thanks Bread & Bean!

I go to this coffee shop every weekend - it's brilliant! Friendly staff and sharp coffee. What more do you want?!

As Italian and as a lover of coffee

this is the best coffee shop in London! cappuccino is just outstanding, even in Italy, I have difficulty to find the same quality.
The staff is lovely and friendly I felt home every time.
About the food, I just tried the fruit pancake that is massive!

This is a great little place in Archway, with lovely window seats - though I've never managed to nab them! There's a lot of lap-toppers in the afternoon, meetings happening and friends chatting. The back room is not as lovely, but fine for a an hour or so if you want somewhere to catch up and there's no where out front - though tables are close - so not much privacy.

The coffee, teas and cake are good, I've yet to sample anything else. I'm pleased that it's small and independent and appears to keep busy despite a Costa next door and a massive Coffee Republic, which has just opened up, opposite.

My only issue (and please fix this) is the seating on the tables in the far corner which are ridiculously low compared to the table AND the chair of your companion opposite. I needed to use a couple of cushions to boost me up, and granted, I am quite small, but this was exceptional. Please don't make me return with a booster seat!

Friendly efficient service lovely buzzing atmosphere and great tasting coffee at reasonable prices definitely the best in the area.

I used to pop in there with my flatmate for breakfast; lovely pancakes and coffee too! oh..and the staff is really kind and professional!

Simply the best coffee in London. I genuinely don't know how they do it. All the food is lovely too, and having hands on owners I'm sure helps with keeping cool and friendly staff. The only issue is its so damn popular!

This café was the first place serving barista style coffee in Archway and continues to be a draw for its yummy breakfasts and good brews.

The best latte and almond croissants in London! The handprinted little owls on the takeaway cups are super cute too!

My favourite place to breakfast in London! A bright, relaxed, cheery cafe with a range of breakfast, brunch and lunch options. The Bread and Bean Benedict - avacado, bacon and poached egg with hollandaise sauce on an English muffin is cracking! And the tea comes served in great big pots. Can't go every day as on the slightly expensive side (£7-£10 for breakfast options) otherwise I would!
