Burger & Lobster Oxford Circus

Time Out says

Please note, Burger and Lobster’s menu is now full a la carte and prices have changed. Time Out Food editors, January 2018.

This Oxford Circus branch of Burger & Lobster has an inviting atmosphere, with warm wood panelling juxtaposed with bare brick, and the lobster tank is in plain view if you wanted to see what you'll be eating.

Born from the minds of four schoolmates on a rooftop in London, this restaurant chain grew from a pop-up in a Mayfair boozer to ten branches London-wide, and more to boot around the the world.

In case the name isn't enough of a hint, these guys specialise in lobsters and burgers. It might come across gimmicky, but ignore that initial impression because if you're after good lobster, you'd be hard pressed to find it at better value for money than here. You can get a lobster (boiled, grilled or in a brioche roll with mayo) with a substantial salad and french fries for £23-£31, depending on how you have it and which branch you're in. For a smaller budget, the beef burgers will set you back £16.

Burger & Lobster Oxford Circus says
Welcome to Burger & Lobster Oxford Circus!

It all started on a London rooftop in 2011; four schoolmates came up with the simplest of ideas - a restaurant where the focus was just two ingredients – burger and lobster – done really well.

From that first-ever Burger & Lobster, born in a small Irish pub in Mayfair, it’s fair to say we’ve grown – with nine restaurants located across London, as well as in New York, Dubai, Bangkok, Malaysia, Kuwait and Singapore.

What hasn’t changed, though, is our mission (some say obsession) to make the most of quality ingredients – whether that’s the Nebraskan family-farmed beef that goes into our prime burgers, the freshest Atlantic lobsters or the premium spirits for our tempting cocktails.

From that rooftop meeting to your table today, that simple idea stays true.

Burger Lobster is my guilty pleasure. In some ways it's like an upmarket MacDonalds...but I like it! Oh yes I admit, the queues can be crazy, which is why I like this slightly quieter brand just a few streets behind Topshop on Oxford Street because you can often walk in and get a table. My overriding memory is the live lobsters in tanks near the entrance which kind of sets the tone for your evening. You can pick from lobster, lobster roll or a burger. All £20. The food is sublime and j always get the lobster roll now (when you love something this much you can't change for fear that what you get won't match up) and it has this amazing yummy sauce with it plus skinny fries and salad. They also serve it up with a plastic bib - yah really - just in case you get it all over you! I only ever have white wine here, by the glass and around £6. I'm reliably informed that they do good cocktails too. ENJOY!!!
