Chango

We’re big fans of Chango’s street-food pitches wherever they pop up, so the arrival of their first permanent restaurant and wine bar in Wimbledon Village sounds like good news for the neighbourhood. This outfit is all about hand-crafted empanadas – the South American cousins of the Cornish pasty, which come with all manner of fillings ranging from classic chopped beef and spicy chicken to ham and cheese or tomato, mozzarella and fresh basil (one for the veggies). The kitchen also doles out a selection of well-reported Spanish-style tapas (think pan con tomate, chorizo in wine, charcuterie and cheeses) plus lots of desserts slathered in dulce de leche. In short, an atmospheric spot with excellent food, quaffable Argentinian wines and sweet staff too.
