Time Out says

4 out of 5 stars

Gourmet burger stall from a French husband and wife.

Run by a husband-and-wife team of burger obsessives, the menu at this stall reads like a quirky love letter to the humble patty. Offering a dazzling range of homemade relishes (Jack Daniels jam, anyone?) every Cheeky Burger comes pimped up with a little surprise: from a thick, juicy patty served with grilled onions and wonderfully nutty peanut butter (Cheeky Elvis, £8.50), or a ‘classic’ Cheeky Cheese which swaps the standard packed mince for steak. Admittedly, that last patty was on the tough side, and some of the sauces were a little greasy, but if it’s creativity you’re looking for, Cheeky Burger gets my vote.

Was introduced to this great burger at Last Days of Shorditch. Great staff! I had a truffle burger and it was delicious! Keep up the good work!

My friend is in love with Cheeky Burger, so much so that he knows all of their stall workers by name and they know his order before he's even got to the front of the queue. I wanted to put the burger to the test after all his hype, and managed it one day when they were at Aldersgate for a food market.

They have a good range of burgers including the classic bacon, but also the more strange Mother Ducker which has duck (obviously), and one with peanut butter. Cool, if that's your thing!

I opted for the bacon one, as a good solid burger which I could use to compare against other versions in London. It comes with a 16 hour slow cooked Jack Daniels and Bacon jam (which is heavenly), and is a bit of a beast especially for just £7.

Was it worth it? Yes. Did it live up to the hype? Not quite. The problem when food stalls start to grow in popularity is they have to hire new staff, and on this occasion, I think the team had overcooked both mine and my friend's. it was certainly good enough to pique my interest, and I'll be heading back as soon as possible to get the "authentic" experience!

This is it!

This is the one!

The BEST burger in the world and I'll challenge anyone who disagrees to a duel.

Really friendly staff and it's the cherry on top of the amazing Portobello Market.
