Chez Mal

Time Out says

There's plenty of variety at this restaurant and bar at the Malmaison London - a good-looking hotel on Charterhouse Square. Items from the grill prove popular, with a classic steak frites alongside côte de boeuf, Black Angus New York strips and surf and turfs.

Elsewhere the menu gets its influence from various global cuisines, with everything from shrimp tacos, burgers and Thai BBQ chicken lollypops to moules-frites, sesame crusted tuna with bok choy and ginger soy dressing, and roast cod with chorizo, new potatoes and a mussels vinaigrette.

Chez mal, this French diner part of the malmaison hotel offers good steaks, cheeky cocktails and a great unlimited brunch. Having been a few times, I expected it to be as great as usual I popped in for a quick bite and to try out its new set menu for £25 which was a steal, offering a good old hot smoked salmon with heritage beets, a Panfried sea-trout with citrus salad and a yummy cheese cake to finish it off , not forgetting the cocktail that's included in this deal. Great quality, good food but service can be slow when busy

Spent a fantastic Xmas weekend at Malmaison and got to eat at Chez Mal every day. The food is unbelievably good, especially the brunch options and they really knew how to make a traditional Xmas lunch feel extra special.

The staff were amazing, very attentive and friendly. The whole venue is very well set out and feels cosy while still maintaining a classy ambiance. Even things like the pictures on the wall and the notice boards really add to the unorthodox and risque vibe that Malmaison is know for.

Definitely worth repeat visits and will certainly be on the must-go list for any future forays into Barbican

Their Sunday brunch is best value in town! I've eaten here twice- at a birthday party in a private room & in the main restaurant. Both times the atmosphere was great with super friendly staff who couldn't be more helpful. The Sunday brunch is 4 courses of top notch food with a big choice of dishes on offer. The soup is always delicious, great chef's table & roast beef with all the trimmings is one of the best I've tasted. Amazing Yorkshire pudding! With £15 unlimited prosecco it's a steal & highly recommended. Love this place!

Been here a couple times now and I love it. I most recently went for their Sunday Brunch special for a small occasion and it didn't disappoint. It's a four course menu and you start off with the soup, which was Leek & Potato; then it's off to the Chef's table. This was unlimited and there was a lively selection of meats, fish, cheeses, pates, breads and other antipasti. There was also a selection of pastries, it was a nibbler's dream! after that there was your main dish to choose from. I had the rump steak fries, others had the roast beef with vegetables. it was all delicious! Dessert also didn't disappoint! I had the Mal Hot Chocolate! Hot fondue milk choc with marshmallows and vanilla ice cream topped with white choc...chocolate dreams! The decor is like a NYC steakhouse with flashing lights and mirrors and dark purple red hues. Totally, totally recommend!

I went last year for dinner, and found the menu quite limited (it's a steak restaurant) but ... yesterday I returned for the £20 3 course brunch and was really pleasantly surprised.  There's an all you can eat starter buffet of meats, cheeses and pastries, followed by either a breakfast or lunch main (including roast dinners) and then full desserts.  All topped off with unlimited bubbles.  One of the best, most reasonably priced brunches I've had in London ... GO!
