Chop Chop is an Asian restaurant right at the entrance of Kings Cross so very convenient for any pre-travel meals before gigs/ football matches/ train journeys. I come here often for all of the above.

Expect very good value food and not much more. You won’t get friendly, welcoming service or a pretty interior. And there have been times when the floor is being cleaned and the wet mop has done an outline around our table while we were eating.

What it does have going for it is that the food is cheap for London- there’s nothing more than £8, and I’ve never had a bad meal there. They do everything you’d expect from a Chinese/ Thai- a large variety of noodle dishes, egg fried rice and curry dishes, soup noodles and seafood laksa, as well as all the usual sides like spring rolls, bbq ribs, and soups.

One couple- clearly fresh off the train, tired after a backpacking trip and looking for a meal- after putting down their massive backpacks and getting comfortable at a table- were rudely told to ‘move to the corner table because we want to clean that side’, so had to haul everything back up and squash between us and another couple. The guy remarked to his partner, ‘Well, we’re definitely back in London. So much for the warm welcome home!’ During their meal though they remarked how good the food was.

Which pretty much sums up Chop Chop.
