Please note, Cooper and Wolf has now closed. Time Out Food editors.

There’s no denying that Clapton is in the throes of gentrification, and with an organic deli, creperie, British bistro and thriving street market amongst its offerings, Chatsworth Road is the veritable epicentre of the reinvention.

Having stocked up on organic vegetables and general bric-a-brac from the market, a raft of well-to-do families and young creative types had made their way down to Cooper and Wolf on our Sunday visit. Perusing the weekend papers, sipping on coffees made with single estate beans from small batch roastery Caravan and tucking into Swedish-inspired food – the second-hand tables were packed.

A colourful open sourdough sandwich topped with beetroot salad and a generous pile of cold meatballs proved a satisfying dish. Our veggie choice (of which there are many) was less compelling. Their Swedish pytt-i-panna consists of fried bacon and potato cubes with an egg on top – the veggie one is the same, but with the pork omitted. At £7 for some under-seasoned potato with an egg on top, it seemed a little steep.

Cooper and Wolf does however makes a welcome addition to an already thriving food destination, and may just bring Clapton that step closer to an aspirational family neighbourhood.

Nice cafe, staff are seriously rude though. I won't be returning

too many beards in range of foodstuffs, not a genuine local person in site and the food is a total rip off. "may just bring Clapton that step closer to an aspirational family neighbourhood." That says it all. A sad indictment of the invasion of wannabe 'creatives' and those who pander to their 'needs'

Great menu, both for lunch and fika. Lovely Clapton hang out and location!

This is the best local hangout: friendly staff, excellent coffee, chilled atmosphere, and the food is consistently excellent. I put on about a stone from eating the cinnamon and savoury buns alone when we moved to the area..!

From the outside Cooper & Wolf looks a charming little café, the minimally designed exterior is very aesthetically pleasing with its block colour panelling and condensed type signage. Its appearance is perhaps what attracts the many millennial creatives who perch outside on the upcycled park benches on a weekend. The inside is slightly more rustic, with mismatched wooden furniture and centre pieces of teeny flower vases adding a cute quaintness.

The coffee is great, the drinks list has everything you’d expect from an independent coffee shop, from frothy favourites of cappuccinos to flat whites to espressos, all presented in stylishly minimal logo-stamped cups. Food wise the menu is predominantly Swedish, including Nordic dishes of meatballs, gravlax and kalles kaviar. They also have tempting countertop cakes such as Swedish cinnamon buns, or ‘Kanelbullar’. They offer wheat and gluten free delights too, and vegan chocolate treats to satisfy the sweet tooth of the ecologically minded.

The only downside is the staff, they seem to display a certain level of disdain if you can’t decide what to order in under five seconds, or don’t hear their questions over the noisy coffee machine and bustling kitchen, or take too long scrambling together your cash.

Besides the haughty staff it’s a great neighbourhood café, ideally situated on the ever popular Chatsworth Road and directly opposite the lush greenery of Millfields Park. It’s styling and branding make it trendy enough to be deemed a hipster hangout, but it’s also cosy and homely enough to be considered a lovely local favourite, an ideal convenient stop off for an early morning caffeine boost or the perfect spot for a lazy weekend brunch date.

Lovely looking cafe on the Chatsworth road staffed by a disinterested and unfriendly bunch. Such a shame as its so local for me, but i've tried twice and they clearly just aren't interested in my type. They always seemed filled though, so good luck to them..

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Swedish meatballs at Cooper and Wolf. Just so unexpected from an understated cafe in a residential area of Hackney. However, the Chatsworth road neighbourhood is up and coming and the place to watch. Cakes were good too (not made on site) but slightly disappointing were the Swedish sausages which essentially tasted like Spam (but perhaps it is suppose to). Shabby chic decor complemented the uber hipster staff. Fully baby equipped.

This is my favourite Clapton Cafe. It is pure Bliss! Sara and Alex who run Cooper and Wolf are dedicated members of the community bringing delicious Swedish food to the people of Clapton with a smile. Highly Recommended.

The food is nice.... even if  it s over priced; however, is not this the reason of my review, there is  no vibe cause the very rude staff .

I had a not a  very nice experience the first time I went there , I gave this place another chance thinking that was just an episode, but I  was wrong ..... I won't walk there anymore.

I wonder How people that don't even not even the idea of  what  hospitality means can run a business.

I hope you will at least smile after reading this review ,probably  is what you want to gain with your behave!

that bar could have potential .... but it failed

Decent coffee. Extremely pretentious food using IKEA bread & products. Very poor standards on breakfasts. A bit messy with staff obviously lacking any experience. A long way down! I am afraid so.

fantastic food, great service, a gem in hackney. Coffee a highlight, raraka with fresh salmon is a must try, great to support local independants with a vision.
