Draft House

Eclectic beers and pub-style food are clearly proving a good formula for the Draft House mini-chain - they've now have five branches. Smaller than its older siblings, this pub is more about supping pints (or thirds of pints if you want to vary your drinking) than sitting down to a relaxed meal.

On draught on our visit were ales from BrewDog, Dark Star Hophead, and Sambrook's Wandle, among a dozen fine brews. The meaty mix of well-priced US-style fast food and British pub dishes comes with recommended beer matches - such as juicy, smoked Vienna sausage hot dogs paired with Stiegl Goldbräu, a lager from Salzburg.

I pass by the Holborn/Chancery Lane branch regularly - so I was pleased when I finally got to try it out. There is a big selection of beers but no fear non beer drinkers there are other options available as well. If you are looking for a quiet pint though this is not the place to go - it is usually lively and loud, which I enjoyed but it's not everyone's style!

A great place for beer lovers and a comfy spot if you need an escape from the hustle and bustle of soho for a good old catch up.

Less choices for non beer drinkers (like me) but I was very happy with the homemade pork scratchings!

Frankly (haha) given the review I expected better. Much better. The Käsekrainer has disappeared from the menu and I had a selection of three sausages instead. The product was good, but left on the grill too long and the sausages were charred a little beyond flavourful. And had obviously been reheated, so all in all, it was quite disappointing. The potato salad was bland. The sauerkraut was the only correct item of food. Had a pint of Paulaner and that was satisfying so if you are interested, rush there before they pull it off the menu as the Oktoberfest season wanes... just skip the sausages.
