Eat Tokyo Covent Garden
Venue says Just opened, our authentic Japanese restaurant in Covent Garden!

This Catherine Street venue is the Covent Garden branch of a five-strong chain of Japanese restaurants. It's from the same group behind Golders Green's Shabu Shabu, too. This one does well with Drury Lane theatre-goers.

As with the other branches, here it's mostly about recognisable Japanese staples. Expect, then, sushi and sashimi alongside dishes such as vegetable tempura, various donburi, chicken teriyaki, tofu salads and bento boxes.

Keep an eye out for what look like good-value sushi and sashimi platters, too.

Eat Tokyo Covent Garden says
If you are looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience you can find our new restaurant, just opened in the heart of Covent Garden, and nearby to Leicester Square.

Established for more than 40 years in Tokyo we now have our seventh successful restaurant in London. We're the perfect place to enjoy a night out with friends or a pre- or post-theatre bite. You can sample our wide range of traditional Japanese sakes and beers, and our delicious food. Having opened our first restaurant in 2009, we now have seven restaurants in London and another five well-established venues in Japan.

Our traditional Japanese dishes include a wide selection of sushi and sashimi bento boxes which are always great for a lunch selection. We also serve nigari, chirashi, unagi and set menus to cater for all, as well as classic sushi rolls and hyper rolls. We now also offer some vegetarian options, too.

Great food, but the service is very, very poor - the staff often look like they would rather be anywhere else!

Eat Tokyo is one of my favourite places to eat!! This restaurant has a fish pond in the front near the door and I found it smelly. Considering it hasn't been open long I found it less than clean. For now, I'll stick to the Soho restaurant!

What's up with their hygiene score, it's only 2 out of 5? I would not return until they fix this.

A new branch of my favourite London Sushi restaurant.

The shiny new Covent Graden branch has some fab standout features - including a fish pond in the entrance and a glass floor in the upper level to look down at the fish while you eat.

Sadly this branch doesn't quite live up to the great standards of the old Compton Street branch. Service can be slow and the restaurant can get very noisy which rather spoils the experience.

The food is still great though!

Best sushi for your buck in middle of town - well priced and good quality. Try the sushi bento for a mix of a little bit of everything; it comes with tempura veg and prawns + sushi and sashimi in a satisfying mix. The menu is a bit of a bible in size so lots of things to choose from. Clean restaurant and fast service.

Eat Tokyo really hits the spot for some authentic and fresh Japanese food, especially with their sashimi! I really liked how you could see the chefs preparing your food and even have the option of sitting in front of them to have your meal. This new branch in Covent Garden is quite modern, with a lovely fish pond by the entrance and completes the whole Japanese experience with their Japanese toilets! Definitely one of my go-to restaurants for a satisfying Japanese meal.
