Awww man. What used to be a great place to grab some american diner like food has now become one of the places you avoid. I used to love ed's diner! They had the yummiest onion rings and I loved the whole 50's vibe with the mini jukebox !!

The last two times I came here left me disappointed and nostalgic of what once was. The chips were even awful. I had a burger which happened to be 90% bun and 10% burger ... The new onion rings recipe left the onions uncooked and chewy. *sigh*

Its sad but it's true .... All good things truly do come to an end

Well, this is the second time and second location I have visited of this chain and I can safely say; it’ll be the last.

I ordered the All Day Breakfast Burger Plate (I don’t know why, I hadn’t eaten breakfast that day?) with chilli cheese fries and a Baileys milkshake. The burger was way below par, the beef patty was so dry and the bacon was burnt to a crisp, I deconstructed it and ate the egg, hash brown and mushroom. The fries were average, dribbled with a tiny bit of chilli and a scattering of cheese. The coleslaw was nice, being the only thing they probably bought pre-prepared! Wouldn’t recommend this chain, I’m afraid. There are some other, far superior, American diner restaurants popping up that are worth a look over Ed’s.

The food ain't award winning, but it's good diner food serves with a side of red vinyl booths and a jukebox full of Elvis and Buddy Holly hits. Free refills on soft drinks are a bonus and staff are always friendly. A real draw for some will be the gluten free menu - offering basically everything from the regular menu replaced with gluten free rolls, sauces and burgers. Just to be difficult I went for the chickpea and quinoa veggie burger which cost £7.95 including an egg and cheese as extras, and was pleasantly surprised by the taste and texture - not dry at all and quite tasty. The bun was also not dry and a proper burger bun with sesame seeds. Not at all like GBK where the gluten free bun literally fell apart in the hands. Perhaps I have fairly low gluten free expectations on burgers, but this burger really impressed me - good work Ed's.

First off I must explain that I do not complain or write reviews about bad service. However last nights experience of Ed's Diner in Picadilly left a bad taste in my & my friends mouths. There were 7 of us & we had decided to go there for a bite to eat after our friends enagement party. None of us had eatin & so we all quite hungry. We thought it would be fun to go to Ed's for that diner experience. We Had made a large order. Unfortunately they had left my burger off. By the time I had enquired patiently about this, some of my friends were half way through their food. I explained this to the waiter & he went off to check. He did not come back to me to explain or apologise. I had to catch his eye before he signalled to me it was coming. I thought fine, I won't make a scene. By the 3rd time I had enquire where my food was 2 of my friends had finished theirs. As I'm sure most people would be, I was not happy about this, however while I said to the waiter this was unacceptable, which it was, I in no way raised my voice to him. The manager then stepped in & told me to calm down & said I was being rude & would kick me out if I didn't calm down. Incredibly shocked by this I asked the manager if he thought this was a reasonable level of customer service. I wasnt blaming the waiter but the service had so far been below par. The manager replied that he wasn't interested. By this point 2 of my other friends stepped in & told the manager he was being incredibly rude & patronising & proceeded to remind the manager about customer service. I must point out at this point I had yet to receive an apology for my missing burger. The manager then threatend to throw us out. I then asked for his full name & his head office contact details to whiandre refused to give his surname & was again incredibly rude about giving me their head offices details. Left a sour taste. Needless to say I will never be going back to Eds and hope no one else does either. I never even got my burger either.
