I've paid a lot more for steaks and they were no way near as good as flat iron. Only annoying thing is the waiting time but it's understandable. They have zero vegetarian option though so unless you are vegetarian and ready to have just sides (not including chips as they are cooked in beef fat apparently), check there's no vegetarian in the group if you're going there for group dinner (yup, that happened to us)
The flat iron steak + cream spinach = 15 mins of pure joy + happiness + silent eating
If ever I fancy a decent steak I always think of Flat Iron, this place
serves the best steak without the horrendous price tag that’s normally involved
with a good steak. I went here with my friend who ordered x2 steaks ( I think he just got a
bit too excited!) And I ordered just the x1 – which was the perfect portion.
The steak comes with a house salad and I ordered the creamed spinach to
Really good vibes inside, and the staff are really chirpy.
Always makes the experience so much nicer, and not to forget the super cute cutlery! Only downfall for this is the waiting
times, If I could have this all the time I would, but unfortunately my patience
isn’t that high.
This is my favourite Flat Iron! I have been to most of them, but this (newish) one is great.
Standard Flat Iron - super cheap, yet some-of-the-best-you-will-eat steak - no booking allowed but take your number at the door and text you when they are ready (I would recommend heading to Dinarama over the road for a drink while you wait) great sides and best of all as much free beef-dripping cooked popcorn as you can eat!
But on top of this standard recipe for success that you will see at the other Flat Iron's, this one has a (slightly) larger seating area, it has a gorgeous roaring fireplace with a massive joint of beef turning on an weight driven automatic spit spewing out delicious meaty fragrance. It also has a small waiting area next to the bar meaning you don't even need to leave while you wait - you can just drink the best Malbec you will ever have.
Flat Iron is such an oddity - you can’t book a table and when you arrive the Steak is suspiciously cheap. Fear not however, you aren’t being fed the off cuts, just the forgotten ones. Flat Irons signature steak comes from the shoulder - an often overlooked part that rarely finds its way to plates, and after coming here you’ll wonder why. The steak is delicious and a good size for its price. They also serve blue steak perfect every time. If you want anything other than steak, however, you’re out of luck unless you happen to get a special you like - the menu is specialised to the extreme.
Finally, after Homeslice and many more, Flat Iron is in Shoreditch! South of Curtain Road, another great branch of this amazing chain is here to serve us great steak and fries on a budget with the friendliest service and the most hip interior decor! It wasn't as busy as the other branches when it opened, we went on a Sunday evening and it was pretty quiet but now that it has been there for a couple of months, you most certainly will have to queue! Like the rest of the branches they don't take reservations but the delicious steak is worth the wait I must say.
