There's a firm focus on authenticity at this Italian restaurant in Penge, with regional dishes from across the boot on a menu that looks like it could be good value. It's served in a restaurant with leather banquettes, exposed brickwork and art for sale on the walls. Flora climbs climbers outside.
The menu is classic Italian all the way. Expect, then, dishes ranging from bruschetta, calamari fritti and asparagus and ricotta ravioli to penne arrabiata, linguine con gamberoni, pollo alla Milanese and padellata del pescatore - sea bass fillet, prawns, squid and shellfish served with garlic bread.
Kids menus also feature.

Some of the best seafood pasta I have had - including what I have had in southern Italy. FoF always source excellent clams, squid and prawns.
A genuine Italian restaurant in south-east London with an Italian owner, Italian chef and Italian waiting staff.
It is a corner of napoli in penge,
Great ingredients, cooked with passion from an authentic italian team.
Great all round
Being an Italian, I prefer homemade meals so generally speaking, I do not go out for Italian meals. When I go out, I try different cuisines. But if I ever choose to go for Italian meal, "Friends of Flavours"is the one. The food is so good. And they make me feel at home.
A beautiful place, with a warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere and the most delicious Italian food - not forgetting the amazing prices! New favourite restaurant.
Our favourite neighbourhood restaurant - we come here for all our special occasions and are always made to feel so welcome. The home made pasta and house wine make for a very reasonable but delicious meal out. Make sure you finish off with the home made Tiramisu and have a limoncello with Micheal the owner.
This is my fav Italian restaurant in Penge, the food is fresh and fantastic. Lovely little place, excellent service, would recommend to all
It is a hidden gem of penge. The food is fantastic and staff are lovely . It is the best Italian in South East London .
You can tell they use top quality ingredients, freshly cooked every time, by Italians that know how to cook. Never been let down here, just wish I didn't have to travel so far to get there.
I have been at Friends of Flavours with my boyfriend and both of us left very happy
with great service and wonderful food.
Great service and wonderful food.
We discovered Friends of Flavours a couple of years ago and since then we go once a month or so. It has a warm welcoming atmosphere, lovely staff, and very nice food. We've gone with various friends and they've gone back with other friends. You do need to book if you go at the weekend as its very popular. We love it. It should win the award!
That s what Penge needed for long time...very happy to have a lovely, cosy Italian restaurant only doorstep.
The best Italian food I have had in London, very nice place so friendly, amazing food very fresh I racommended all my friends and they said: thank u very much it was a fantastic place and very good food. So I'd like to give more than 5 stars ......... Brilliant
This intimate restaurant serves proper Italian food with simple Mediterranean flavours. The service is very friendly as well; for my birthday they sang 'Happy birthday' holding a little cake with a candle, that was such a lovely touch.
the best italian food in london, friendly staff i will recomended to everyone to try it.very good 5stars
A very nice place to eat genuine italian food in this corner of South East London.
Really enjoyed any visit. Very nice not to stick to multiple/commercial restaurant chains from every high street.
Recommend to anyone.
As soon as arriving was made to feel very welcome very cosy with a real Italian atmosphere the staff and food fantastic its a pity it's tucked away a little bit but a hidden gem you've got to try
A friend of mine that lives in Penge area was very enthusiastic about this Italian Restaurant, She convinced me to join her to go to for a dinner (must admit I bit skeptical). As soon we sat down we had a warm welcome and was a beautiful atmosphere a very professional waitress took our orders, I had a linguini with King Prawns which were flavorsome and noticeable for the freshness of the seafood .My friend had some courgette flowers filled with calamari mixture that were executed in a perfect way. Then we both shared the main course again a very fresh mix fish platter nothing to say about it just professionally made. Tiramisu was nice and presented in a nice way that I never saw before. Bill did not make us faint very reasonable prices. So I would suggest it to any of my friends without hesitation.
I have been many times to Friends of Flavours since it opened three years ago, and would highly recommend it. Excellent food, with really charming service - and I also really like the decor/ambience! It really feels like a little slice of Italy.
Friends of Flavours is an outstanding Italian restaurant in the heart of Penge. Service and food are excellent, with a wide choice of dishes and the ambience and decor is charming, as is the attentive service. Superb value for money.
It's been with great pleasure and surprise that I discovered this amazing restaurant. A friend of mine suggested me to go there for a nice dinner and I can guarantee that is 100% italian. As an italian customer, I appreciated that the lady who was taking the orders was trying to speak italian as soon as she realised we all were italians. Everybody was satisfied and finally we now know where to go whenever we feel home sick ;)
Absolutely love this restaurant; tasty, fresh and delicious - truly authentic Italian cuisine with first class service!
Quite simply the best Italian restaurant in South East London! I discovered this place a couple of years ago one Saturday afternoon. I wandered in to what I thought was a cafe, only to discover it was in fact an Italian restaurant. I chose the Linguine à la Vongolle. It was to die for! I've been going there ever since and friends that I've taken there have also made it a regular haunt.
For me their speciality is the seafood. Always wonderfully fresh and perfectly cooked. The prawns sweet and juicy, the clams and mussels wonderfully garlicky, the linguine perfectly al dente!
A family run business, the service is warm friendly and they really make you feel at home. Whilst I'm happy to nominate Friends of Flavours and wax lyrical about their food, part of me wants to keep this place a secret for me and my friends. It's a small restaurant and I want always to be able to just walk in and enjoy fabulous food. Even though they have cleverly increased the dining area recently and can now take on more diners, I fear It's increasing popularity will make it hard to get a table at short notice.
Selfish I know, but I want this local Jewel of a restaurant to be for just us local people. Having said that they would be deserving winners of this award in my eyes.
Long live FoF.
Excellent food ,nice atmosphere ,perfect service !!!!! Definitely recommend to visit and to have great time !
