I was promised authentic Turkish food by the friend who had recommended this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed.  The dishes were all lovely and very tasty - the smokiness of the Baba Ghanoush was amazing!  It's reasonably-priced and a good choice for pre-show dinner.  The service was friendly and homely.

Had a lovely evening at Gallipoli Cafe Bistro a couple of weeks ago. We randomly visited this cosy restaurant as we were looking for a nice, cheap'n'cheerful place for an improvised dinner with friends in Angel's area. As soon as we passed the doors, it was like entering Aladdin's cave with subdued lights, dangling lamps and sundry decorations. The staff was very friendly and made their best to found a table for 8 people without booking. The food was excellent and generously portioned. Their mezze and mussaka are definitely worth trying!

Turkish cafe / restaurant located on Upper Street (Angel, Islington area) with an amazing vibe!
Apparently there are more than one branches but I've only visited their upper street place.

As expected for a Friday night the restaurant was busy but somehow the atmosphere was still cosy and intimate.
There is a lot of traditional colorful lights hanging around the place highlighting the numerous pictures / posters on the wall.

I absolutely loved the interior, really makes you forget that you are actually eating in London!!

Also, been lucky enough to enjoy a birthday celebration where all the staff plays some music and comes around the "birthday table" to sing and celebrate with everybody.

The whole restaurant ends up clapping and singing along and really participates to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Food wise, I went for the "102 Upper street" plate which was a mix of chicken and lamb with some vegetable and a bit of rice. It was huge and super tasty for what I thought was a good price (£12.95)!!

There are three branches of this restaurant located close to each other along busy Upper Street in Angel. I have visited "Gallipoli" and "Gallipoli Again", and found both to be very good. Personal faves are the mezzo selection (which is huge and delicious!) and the moussaka, but all dishes I've tried have been really tasty and a good price. It is often easy to get a table too, which makes it a great location for a spontaneous mid-week dinner.

Very nice little restaurant with lovely food. I only tried the Mezze tonight but they were amazing and sooooo much to eat. The price was good too.... I def come back.
