Please note, Gigi's is now closed and has been replaced by Kiri Restaurant. Time Out Eating & Drinking editors, Feb 2017.

Gigi's is a smart new Mayfair venue for Italian food with plenty of modern twists, most coming from the direction of the renowned chef Ivan Simeoli. That combined orientation means that alongside a classic starter of vitello tonnato (cold sliced veal with tuna sauce) you might find golden and red beetroot served with buffalo mozzarella and a signature dish of sea bass tartare and langoustine, served with honey and lemon caramel.

Among the fish dishes is a traditional fritto misto and pasta dishes include an equally traditional linguine with bottarga (dried, salted fish roe) with lemon, chives and celery. Meat dishes include braised veal cheek, one of Italy’s most famous dishes, but also innovative creations such as a ‘Trilogy’ of lamb (rack, loin and a braised roll), served with celeriac purée. The dessert list is a mixture of own-made sorbets and classic Italians like tiramisu and pastiera, the famous Neapolitan ricotta cake.

In addition to its numerous Italian wines, Gigi's list has a larger selection of bottles from France and the new world than you'll find in most Italian restaurants in London. There are classic and original cocktails (with numerous variants of the Martini) and a notable selection of liqueurs. You can head outside to the terrace on days or evenings when the weather is fine, and there's a live DJ from Thursday to Saturday nights.

Popular place, judging by the crowds, as you can see its good to book ahead, and certainly don't wear trainers! Fortunately being Friday I was wearing a suit! The food I could rave about, but its the wine that keeps me coming back, they just seem to have full body red wine on tap, just divine!!

This hurts... It really hurts!

As a Mayfair regular I've been to most of the bars there and it didn't feel right to leave Gigi's out. Though the instead decor was warm and reminded me of an uosacle French bistro, we chose to be seated outside so we could people watch!

Now on to the cocktails! *sigh* so disappointed its unreal! We tried three each to be sure we really didn't like them! All three were terribly below average! Such a shame considering the prices. One was way too sharp and the other had no other flavour but lychee. Gutting!

Have I been back since? Hell no!!! There are way more spots out there with more exciting cocktails !

My friend and I both bought a timeout voucher for this place - standard £16 for 4 cocktails

We went one evening after work late in the week and it was pretty busy! We had dinner booked for somewhere else so decided to just use one of the vouchers and come back again!
We hadn't booked and weren't sure we could be seated however after five minutes deliberation sat us in the bar area - which was all good, just not sure why it was a tricky decision for them
I'd already picked the two cocktails I wanted to try however after asking for the silvertini they said they couldn't do this as too many full price paying customers had ordered it and it took too long to make - meh fair enough
The other cocktails were all really good and the staff were friendly but soooo slow
We came back again after work earlier in the week and it was much quieter! We were seated in the main restaurant which was ok but lacked atmosphere as no one else really there (serves us right for drinking so early ey?). Finally got our Silvertinis which were yuuuum!
Nice bar, food looked nice. Would recommend but I would only go back with the voucher as otherwise I can't afford a drink there! Priced at £10-15

Fantastic cocktails and some tasty nosh available here when you're feeling frisky on a weekend. Lovely atmosphere and nice waitstaff who're always smiling, and one understands perfectly well why it's packed. Seriously though, once you've won me over with a nice cocktail, I'm your customer for life.

I've been to Gigi's a couple of times and always liked it. However, on my most recent visit, I was disappointed.

The main problem was the waiter, who was incompetent and inattentive. Unfortunately, the food was also a bit mediocre this time.

The waiter didn't seem to know the menu very well. He first told me a dish came without sauce, but literally in the next sentence said it came in the sauce the fish was cooked in. He then went on to tell me a certain dish wasn't available, but then when I enquired again (because it seemed a bit dodgy) I was able to oder it from him...

Last but not least, he basically ignored us after our main course and we were never offered the dessert menu, nor tea or coffee.

My starter was a dish with crab meat, a quail's egg and (as it turned out) cold tomato juice/soup. It was nice enough but didn't really blow me away.

My main course was truffle pasta, which was disappointing. The portion was tiny (smaller than my partner's pasta starter) and the non-discript white sauce and the pasta were seriously under seasoned. A lot of salt & pepper was needed to give the dish some flavour. The shaved truffle was nice, but wasn't able to add enough flavour to counter the blandness.

However, the atmosphere and interior of the restaurant is still lovely and I think a really nice location for a date.

I think we were a bit unlucky this time. I'll definitely give them another chance.

Perfect location to have cocktails after work or after your shopping session on saturday afternoon! Very luxurious and charming atmosphere. Service is great as well.

I also had a dinner at Gigi's, food was amazing from the starter to the desert. I will definetely go back!

Very luxurious and elegant restaurant! I was surprised when found it in such a quiet corner near busy Oxford Street. Service is absolutely excellent. I went there for lunch and got amazing three courses meal with Bellini cocktail just for 20 pounds. To all seafood lovers I would recommend to try Gigi's Sea bass and  everyone should try poached pear from dessert menu. Looking forward to having a dinner with my friends there!

Gigi's was superb - Italian at its best.  The staff friendly and the food is fantastic - i would highly recommend the Burrata, Duck Risotto & Tiramisu.  Gigi's offers a great atmosphere with DJ's at the weekend - so great for groups of friends looking for a bit more than just dinner. Try the cocktails too - cant wait to go back :)

I visited with 4 friends for birthday dinner and we all thought the food was fabulous! Birthday girl had the Beef and it was generous and presented well. I couldn't resist asking for a taste and it was delicious. I had the Crab Linguine, the portion was very good and again delicious. Regarding desert I had Italian Pastiera which melted in my mouth. My friends said their deserts were good too. Really enjoyed the Gigi's experience as the reason we booked the restaurant is because we heard they have a DJ playing in the background and as it was a birthday celebration we wanted to have the option of getting up and dancing if we wanted to.  Such a shame it is tucked away off New Bond St and Oxford Street as the food is really good. It's a very high end decor reminiscent of Cecconi's . The only negative is I wish there could be more choices on the menu. I ordered the crab as my signature dish I usually order in Italian restaurants is the Lobster Spaghetti ....but it wasn't on the menu. The Crab made up for it but it would have been nice to see Lobster Spaghetti on the menu. Wil definitely be going back again! Great value.

I have now been twice and the food is sublime, fresh, seasonal and consistent. The desserts are amazing like a work of art. The wine list gave us some lovely pairings and the staff and friendly and helpful. The décor is very fresh and this is a real gem if you love Italian food and are out shopping on Oxford Street or Regents Street.

Bitterly disappointed by the atrocious service we received last Saturday evening. I had purchased the Time Out offer for 4 cocktails at £16 and was welcomed by a very reluctant hostess at the door. After telling her we were a party of 6 with vouchers, she claimed they were fully booked, despite the venue being empty. At first she declined to let us in as we were such a large group, but eventually allowed us to stand at the bar but not to use the chairs. After 5 minutes, as if by magic, one of the empty tables had become free (on the condition that we had to vacate by 9pm) and we were forced to squeeze into a tiny booth at the back. Immediately, the volume of the music was turned up to drown all the “noise” we were making.

We waited 25 minutes before getting our first round of drinks however the order got mixed up. My friend ordered a Jameson Manhattan but was given a champagne based cocktail. When he complained, the waiter became very defensive and the cocktail was whisked away, without a word of apology. We eventually got all our drinks, and nobody claimed the table even though it had gone past 9pm.
We are a group of young professionals, perfectly capable of buying the cocktails full price, however, not getting a designer outfit for such a “special occasion” was very probably our downfall. The staff were terribly judgemental and shot us dirty, disdainful looks every time they walked past our table.
We were made to feel like total low lives. It was extremely embarrassing for all of us. Needless to say, I shall never set foot in that restaurant again, and encourage as many of you to do the same, unless you want to be treated like dirt.
The only silver lining is that the cocktails were absolutely divine, hence the 1 star rating.
