Greenwich Tavern

Time Out says

A traditional pub overlooking Greenwich Park, the Greenwich Tavern encompasses a main bar area and two private function rooms spread across three floors. In addition to the beer and real ale on offer, the kitchen serves a mix of traditional British favourites and modern European dishes, while the drinks menu is bolstered by a large selection of freshly-made cocktails.

Lovely location, fairly good selection of beers and a nice decor, however incredibly poor customer service, the bar staff aren't particularly great at making drinks or pulling pints, service is pretty slow and unhurried, food is mediocre at best and the bottomless brunch from my experience normally runs to about 4 glasses before they become very reluctant to give you anymore!

The perfect end to a lovely day in Greenwich. Not too busy in the afternoon and if you manage to save a seat outside you can enjoy the view of the park.

A perfect spot for a drink of meal after a visit to the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich Park, or the Royal Observatory, this is a traditional pub with everything you'd expect to find.

Having recently eaten here I can recommend the fish and chips and the burgers. The other food we saw also looked tasty and it is all reasonably priced, given the location of the pub.

My only criticism would be the volume of the music, which made conversation hard, although we were eating rather late on a Saturday evening.

Great venue with excellent space upstairs for events or gatherings. Good burgers!

Within easy reach of Cutty Sark and Greenwich DLR stations, and just a stones throw from Greenwich Park, this place ticks all the boxes location wise. It even overlooks the park, and you can sit outside and watch the world go by.

I cannot comment on the food, as we stumbled into here after a picnic in the park, but the range of beers is astounding. There's a bigger selection than any beer lover could dream of, and all of them I would say are around the average price for the area. I mean, they're not Weatherspoons cheap, but equally not as expensive as some other places around.

There's also a cute little courtyard area out the back, with plenty of tables for all those who love the outdoors (or polluting their lungs with tobacco :p)

This could have been a great address if the service wasn’t as disappointing.

First of, let me say that the location and food is great. Right by the park, with great views over the greenery, the Greenwich Tavern is a relaxed place to hang out with a nice vibe to it. The food is made of pub favourites. So don’t be surprised if the menu is made exclusively of comfort foods. However, it does it with flair and nice flavours to it. The chilli mayo adds excitement to the side of onion rings and the veggie burger has a breaded bean patty, which means it stays consistent and doesn’t crumble down like other veggie options while adding a little more crunch. Great idea.

But the service is terrible. Slow, unfriendly and less than helpful, it feels slightly disrespectful…

And be careful Time Out Card holders! They do not do the discount anymore even though it’s still up on their website. When I tried to flag that up, I was simply met by a ‘we don’t do that anymore. Since a month ago’ from the manager. No sorry’s, no compromise’s. I expected better customer service!

This place is incredible - as a huge fan of unusual beers I was delighted to see the presence of an ENTIRE FRIDGE dedicated to sour beer, even better it was next to the serving area so I could just browse rather than lean over the bar. There was a similar set up for regular beer, as well as a great range on tap. While the ye olde pubs of Greenwich have their charm and history (and the variety of beer on offer is going up across the board) this will now be my go-to for that area.

We went for a Sunday lunch with friends, inc two babies and it was the perfect location - bright airy, a little garden to run around in. The roast lunch was nicely done pub fare - I had the vegetarian carrot and halloumi burger, which was unusual and brilliant.

I have been going to Greenwich Tavern for many years now and for the past year it has been taken over by a local family who have really transformed this in to the place to go and enjoy freshly cooked food. The burgers are to die for and Thrice cooked hand cut chips are AMAZING!! On a Friday night there is live music which really start my nights of with a smile. The owner Hiren is very friendly and welcoming too.
