Time Out says
Tip-top Turkish in Green Lanes, a prime spot for grills and meze.
Hala may be a simple eat-in or takeaway joint, but it has always been smart. Waiting staff wear black waistcoats and yellow ties, while the ladies sitting in the window hand-rolling gözleme (filled crêpes) sport matching white T-shirts and hair nets. A revamp has reinvigorated the place a little, but the food and the welcome remain blessedly unchanged.
Everything has visual pizazz. Excellent mixed meze came in a colourful arrangement on the plate: houmous as grainy as grits sat next to a relatively restrained tarama; butter-rich cacık nudged a mellow aubergine salad (patlıcan salatası). Cubes of fresh white cheese and some zingy but mild ezme (tomato salad) completed the picture. Our waiter scooped froth on to a glass of ayran, before poking a pink straw through the lot. The three ‘daily dishes’ – stews and pasta – can be served as a mix.
Knowing Hala’s generosity, you’d end up with more than your fair share of each. But the grill is the main attraction. Even if alinazik was short on puréed aubergine it mattered little, so succulent was the lamb. Mixed kebab platters come on huge plates, and there are a couple of grilled fish options too.

Whenever my friends want advice or a recommendation for a Turkish restaurant, Hala is my go to!
I've been going for years and even after an expansion and refurb, they've never lost their magic touch!
I would definitely recommend the manti here, it's their specialty. But you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything about this place is spot on. If you want good Turkish food, look no further.
I regularly go to Haringey to have Turkish food ,after trying many kebab places I found my taste at Hala Restaurant. Sometimes I take my friends and family to have dinner at Hala, Staff is very helpful all the time... Menu includes most of the Turkish dishes so I think everyone can find a piece of nice food for their taste... Starters are excellent and all the kebabs are extremely delicious, my fav is Manti ( Turkish dumpling with yogurt) and Ribs... I can suggest Hala to everyone... One of the best in London... Caner
This place is AMAZING! I have been going there for 4 years and I have never been disappointed. Good price, OUTSTANDING QUALITY, friendly staff and impeccable service. Although there are bigger and glossier establishment on Green Lanes, Hala is authentic and it does serve the BEST Turkish food in this area! I am going tomorrow!x

HALA is the best turkish restaurant i've visited in london, ahead of some tough competition up and down green lanes. it's a basic place, also doing take-away, but all of the dishes are excellent. the pomegranate dressing on salads is especially good. friendly and very good value.I ;ll defineatly come back again

Hi everyone I vent to hala last sunday for breakfast the turkish breakfast and gozleme was fantastic speacly chese and spinach gozleme absoultly lowely waiters are ok they gave us free tea and desert
It used to be fantastic but since refurbishment there is a marked deterioration in quality and service-perhaps it has changed hands. For vegetarians beware also-even the bread seems to be steamed in or have meat fat put on it-everything oily really.Nearby restaurants better.
one of the best restaurant in green lane and will be going there often and very good service!!! had a great meal
Service was very poor, food is not the best compared to other restaurants nearby, mediocre at best. Only good thing is it's cheap, but won't be coming back when there's so many better around.
Great place particularly because they make lovely fresh bread, the gozlemi and for serving some dishes beyond the standard kebab range. Its closed during Feb 2012 for a refurb. Call to check if its open or not. The refurb I'm told will add more covers and I'm hoping they'll replace the uncomfortable seating with something more modern,
This place is excellent for lamb shish, imam bayildi and all the usual mezze suspects. Lamb's liver is particularly good and the staff are welcoming. Towards the end of the week is when the grilled meat is at its best (when the grilling A Team are on duty). A couple of new places have opened up next door and opposite but they won't do anything better than Hala.
