I have visited Hot Wok Kitchen a number of times now and have never had a bad meal. The informal setting is perfect for a mid-week reasonably priced dinner out. The thing that really makes it is the service, it really is top notch, the staff are always so friendly and accommodating of awkward requests! Particular highlights are the crispy noodles, this is a favourite in Hong Kong, and this is one of the only places I have found that does it in the same way as I had it there. Deep fried squid is also a top recommendation.
Wok's going on? A local place to eat in Archway, that actually persuades me to leave the comfort of my own home and the delights of my own kitchen has finally arrived!
Don't get me wrong, I love eating out. I just never saw the point of eating out on my own door-step; I can cook pretty well, my own food is healthy and I don't have a huge disposable income, so if I am already near home, I may as well eat there.
But now something has changed that - The Hot Wok kitchen. Serving up Asian food very much to my liking and very much to a level and taste I am unable to create myself. The restaurant is not Michelin standard or super trendy or greatly designed in any way, it's a simple space with several wooden tables and an open kitchen at the back.
What it does though is serve several simple standard Asian dishes, from countries such as Thailand, Japan and China, such as Thai Green Curry and Japanese Gyoza, really really well. Good quality, a fabulous hit of flavour and a price tag reasonable enough that you can put your own pots n' pans away for an evening and pop out for a tasty bite.
