Hummingbird Bakery

Popular with all ages, especially young mums, this branch of Hummingbird Bakery celebrates Stateside sweetness with some classic all-American flavours. There’s a tiny café area attached to the shop, along with a couple of coveted outdoor tables.

The eye candy is provided by a veritable parade of indulgence – sparkly frosted cupcakes decorated in rainbow colours, lemon meringue pies, devil’s food cake and whoopee pies. We loved our darkly seductive chocolate cupcake and whipped icing, but found the red velvet cake disappointingly dry. Brownies come in various guises; our favourite is the deliciously soggy walnut version, topped with rich chocolate and cream cheese frosting.

Supplies can run low by the evening; for the best choice, visit earlier in the day. Service, although friendly, is sometimes slow and chaotic during busy times.

The original and best cupcake bakery, I have genuinely never seen so many cakes under one roof! The salted caramel cupcakes are my personal favourite - sticky and delicious but surprisingly not too sweet.

Although it is well known for its cupcakes, be sure to try the amazing whoopie pies too.. they are absolutely divine. Light and fluffy with scrumptious fillings!

It can get very busy and they often run out of particular flavours by close of business, so make sure you arrive early to avoid missing out on your favourites. Service is always with a smile, but remember you may wait a while at busy times.

I love walnuts in my brownies and that's the way Hummingbird make the frosted one. It's always hard to choose! I love the rainbow cake and whoopies too. Personally I find the cupcakes a bit expensive when you could get a whole piece of rainbow cake for the same money!! Although I go to this one more often, the Soho one is just a bit better.

Cute cupcakes in an assortment of flavours. Look out for the specials each week! A great place for kids parties or to pick up that special birthday cake. Their brownies are also scrumptious. On the slightly pricey side but that's why they're such a treat!

I appreciate that the humming birders were there at the start of the cupcake explosion in the UK but I don't think the cake at the hummingbird cafe deserves the accolades it receives. The flavour of both the cakes and icings seem overly artificial. That said their brownies, especially the raspberry cream cheesecake brownie is nice albeit expensive.

I love cupcakes....well actually I love cupcake icing and Hummingbird makes some of the best.  They tend to stick to traditional flavours which work well and always deliver the best quality cupcakes I have found in London.  The staff are very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions about the different flavours.  They are super friendly and it helps present Hummingbird as a wonderful bakery.  I think they are very reasonably priced and worth every penny.  Try a black bottom.....Delicious!!!

yummy yummy yummy!

Tasted the brownies and the red velvet cupcakes and they were delicious :)

An amazing gem of a bakery. The only downfall is probably the price, but so far, there is simply no other option as you'll never find a bakery quite as good as this one.
