La Tasca, Covent Garden
Ian Garlick
Part of a UK-wide chain of restaurants, this branch of La Tasca is located between Covent Garden's Piazza and the Strand, so handy for shoppers and theatre-goers alike. The menu covers a comprehensive selection of tapas dishes, including chorizo, gambas al ajillo and tortilla, as well as several versions of paella and chef's specials such as slow-cooked pork cheeks. A Spanish-dominated drinks menu includes wine, sangria and a range of beers.

Like Laura's review below, i too think I'm falling out of love with La Tasca. There is something about 6 small tapas plates of food and 2 cocktails running up a bill of £68. I don't really have a complaint as such. The staff were friendly, the layout and ambience of the Coven Garden site is pleasant enough and crucially our food was more 7/10 - but something was lacking. Getting my Martini served in a tumbler didn't help, nor did waiting 12 mins for sorbet only THEN to be told it had run out. I will go back before i write-off La Tasca, but probably to a different branch

Have fallen out of love with La Tasca. Feel the place is a bit 'cheap and cheerful' whilst actually being rather overpriced. Service wasn't good, none of the food was great and every time I order "a few small dishes" I am aghast at the final bill. Think my love affair with La Tasca is over - and that's even after having eaten there free of charge twice for various reasons.

Great food and reasonably priced, would recommend for a mid week catch up with friends.
