Time Out says

Abuzz with gossip, toasts and the hushed chatter of Primrose Hill ladies-who-lunch, this much-loved Greek-Cypriot stalwart has been in operation for more than 30 years – serving up souvláki to local celebs and glasses of Metaxa to homesick old boys. The menu is lengthy, spanning charcoal grills, seafood, oven-cooked taverna classics, vast mezédes selections and great-value weekday lunch specials.

Even in November, the plant-filled interior has an airy, summer-holiday vibe, and pavement tables are elevated to prime position the second the sun hits NW1. Don’t expect culinary innovation; instead, you’ll get well-executed dishes and top-quality meat and fish. Garlicky charred prawns and grilled sea bass were both cooked to perfection, while a fragrant plate of chicken with okra scored highly for authenticity with its rich sauce and subtle cinnamon kick.

The wine list leans heavily towards France, South Africa and the US, though there are a few Greek gems in there if you look hard enough; our ‘wine of the month’, moschofilero, proved a delicious accompaniment. The traditionally clad waiters are efficient and unobtrusive, and leisurely dining is encouraged. Just the job for an afternoon (or evening) pretending you’re back at that holiday island taverna.

Wonderful meal here on a dreary January night. The service was welcoming and 3 hours passed in the blink of an eye. The charcoal grilled sea bass was just divine and my partners lamb Southlake was melt in the mouth delicious. Amazing Greek dessert was fill filled with a sweet custard and syrup. Don't think it will be too long before our next visit. Salivating at the thought!!!

I was quickly seated upon entry and served by a waiter, which already was a good start. I got the aubergine "salad"- really a dip- and the artichokes and beans starters. The mains seemed a bit pricey to me.

Another positive for this place is the complementary dish of radishes, olives and carrots placed on the table, drizzled with olive oil. A really lovely touch!

Pita is extra. Both my dishes were very good. Full of herbs that commented the vegetables; the artichoke dish is in a tomato sauce and there is a generous serving of beans.

A complementary Turkish delight is also served at the end of the meal.

The restaurant interior is airy and comfortable.

We had the aubergine salad, chicken shashlik and lamb shashlik which were were excellent. The atmosphere here is so good, we just sat and talked and drank after the meal. It's really old school dining.

Always the same good fresh food and dedicated staff - been going there for years

The worst kept secret of Primrose hill. its the best Greek food in london. love this place.

As a regular customer for years, I was shocked and disappointed with the meal i had last night. The quality of the food was good but the portions very small and expensive ( 6 prawns for £14) The side dishes were very small and expensive everything was an extra. My immediate reaction was that the management had changed. Normally a great atmosphere. Have no intention of returning what a shame it used to be so good. This review is written with the hope that things may improve.

Had dinner last night as it was my first visit I went for the safe option starter chicken broth soup very nice main course lamb cutlets delicious had half bottle of red house wine it was fine ,service was very good great atmosphere will go their again for sure and will be a bit more adventurous with food selection

My favourite place to eat in North London. Amazing meze and their lunch menu is pretty good too. The lamb is incredible and the dips are tasty. I've had birthdays, dates and dinners here and all have gone swimmingly - just remember to book early and steer clear of the expensive single items on the menu!

Best Greek food this side of the med. service is attentive but unobtrusive. would eat here several times a week if I could. The fish and meat you can tell are top quality and always so fresh, such a busy place means food isn't sitting in a fridge all week waiting to be ordered I guess!

I love the simplicity of this restaurant. The food is simple but very skilfully and lovingly cooked. The fact that this is the kind of restaurant that is full on a Wednesday afternoon tells you just how worth the wait is. With success comes a noisy restaurant but this adds to the rustic, authentic appeal. Quiet dining with beautifully presented pieces of art work and a quiet discreet waiter is not the point of this restaurant. It's supposed to be like a noisy Greek family and well worth the experience!

As a regular customer I look forward to Lemonia's fast and efficient service, friendly authentic staff and lovely food. Although it's such a busy restaurant it handles itself well, and keeps a reasonable price. I prefer going for dinner rather than lunch but it's a great choice for any occasion or simply an excuse not to cook!
