Time Out says

Les 2 Garçons in Crouch End is a neighbourhood French restaurant from Robert Reid, formerly of Marco Pierre White's Oak Room, and restaurateur Jean-Christophe Slowik. The focus is on classic French country cooking in a relaxed setting. The menu features straightforward bistro dishes, including confit de canard, steak frites, and tarte fine aux pommes. The approach is traditional, focusing on established French recipes but don't be surprised to see the odd inventive spot of innovation, too. It does what it does really well, so it's little surprise to see that it’s a popular spot – booking is recommonded.

Update October 2025: Les 2 Garçons was recently voted London’s best local restaurant by The Good Food Guide. More info here.

Les 2 Garcons says
Les 2 Garçons is a neighbourhood bistro in the heart of Crouch End, blending Gallic charm with classic, flavourful French cooking. Expect comforting dishes like confit de canard with white beans and mushrooms, steak frites, and tarte fine aux pommes.

The restaurant was born from the friendship and shared passion for food, wine, and hospitality of Robert Reid and Jean-Christophe Slowik (JC), who first met in 1998 while working under Marco Pierre White at The Oak Room.

JC’s career began at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons as Commis Sommelier, followed by a move to Harvey’s (now Chez Bruce) as Restaurant Manager. After years with Marco Pierre White, he opened the much-loved L'Absinthe in Primrose Hill, until its closure 2018.

Robert started his culinary journey in France, training at Michelin-starred restaurants including Moulin de Mougins, Au Crocodile, and Restaurant Jamin with Joël Robuchon. In London, he became Head Chef at The Oak Room, then led kitchens at Home House and Balthazar in Covent Garden. His philosophy is simple: "great ingredients, cooked beautifully."

Long-time locals of Crouch End, Robert and JC have realised their dream of creating their own welcoming neighbourhood restaurant — and Les 2 Garçons is exactly that.
