Time Out says

The name comes from the Maori name for their country: Aotearoa, ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’, and generally suggests something more beautiful than a café on Hackney Road. The owners have done their best with the long white premises, but the place still looks slightly cold, with the decorative touches (plants, walls used as exhibition space) and second-hand furniture not managing to tip the balance towards homely. Happily, the quality of the food is lure enough.

A full English breakfast was a proper reviver – flavour-packed and fresh-tasting, while scrambled eggs with green chilli was cooked just so, and had a delightful kick. Coffee (Monmouth) is good, too. One of the owners is a Kiwi, and there are a few nods to NZ (kumara – sweet potato – chips, for example, and a few packaged goods). As well as breakfast items, there are simple dishes such as frittata with salads, sandwiches, and a small range of cakes. A limited evening menu runs Monday to Friday: all-you-can-eat pasta on Monday and Tuesday, pie on Wednesday, Mexican on Thursday, and burgers on Friday. Efficient service comes with a smile – this is no scenester hangout.

An Antipodean dream, good coffee (Monmouth), brunch (avocado and vegemite) with some NZ groceries for sale (bonsoi) and don’t forget the lamingtons. Pop over after the Columbia road flower market. Great selection of GF, DF and vegetarian meals/drinks/sweets

Every time I go by this place, it’s always full and now I know why: great coffee, great food and friendly service. The interior leaves a little bit to be desired as it’s a little sparse however, the warmth of the people in the café more than make up for it. My breakfast of choice was the organic scrambled eggs on toast with a side of sausage, halloumi and asparagus (I was STARVING) and while the whole thing was tasty, the bread was some of the best I’ve had in London. Not too tough and had just the right amount of butter. It’s a little more on the expensive side, which could have been down to the excessive amount of extras I ordered, but overall it was delicious . Also, there were an array of sweet and savoury goodies on the counter top which were incredibly hard to ignore – they were like food sirens, calling out to me as I walked by. Overall, a great spot which I’ll need to go back to.

I really like this place,tThe food and drinks (coffee + smoothies) look and taste amazing and even the prices are reasonable. There is also a lot of gluten free and dairy free options, from GF bread with your eggs to GF cookies and almond milk with your coffee. The only thing is the place could look bit nicer, the tiles on the floor and the style of the wooden tables don't really fit together.

I like the coffee (doubleshot!). Came here on a Sunday Funday and my mates were amazed at how good everything looked. My mate got a smoothie and it was utterly heavenly. Being more of a coffee person myself, I grabbed a latte and enjoyed it thoroughly. Stop by if you're in the area.

A personal favourite, it has Everything I want. Amazing coffee, lots of healthy options, vegimite (not marmite) and avo toast. Lots of regular locals complete with hackney tshirts and art for sale.

One of the friendliest places with an 'E' postcode, this place is a quiet and delicious haven on the Shoreditch/Hackney border. Perfect for breakfasts and beyond.

This is my favourite Hackney cafe. And I have been to most of them! The vege breakfast is just outstanding. Always good food and excellent coffee.

had a hot chocolate, not bad! £3? ok i guess. nice place though, will come back and eat.

I live on Hackney Rd and LOVE LWC! Its the best local with a barista champ at the coffee machine, lovely fresh produce and great private views! With freindly staff and comfy atmos- LWC is my home away from home (away from home). Two thumbs up.

This cafe has scrummy homemade food and the BEST banana bread - ever! It can get packed on the weekends, but it's well worth the wait! Plus, I also love their art installations :-)

I love a good flat white and this cafe didnt fail to deliver - i came across it by accident when i was going to Columbia flower market and i now keep going back. Thanks LWC you have spruced up a bit of Hackney Road

Lovely café especially when looking for a place to work with a laptop/or books (tables with normal height and not just above the ground, electricity, friendly staff). They serve monmouth coffee and a great breakfast tea . Have not tried the food yet, but it definitely looks very good too. Sometimes gets crowded on the week-ends.

LWC is foodie heaven - I've tried the Bacon and Egg pie (amazing), Meatloaf (superb) and veggie breakfast (cured the hangover) - basically i cant get enough for it and keep going back. Thank you for keeping me well fed!

Had a great veggie breakfast there this weekend! Staff seemed very friendly and were chatting about how they opened the cafe a few weeks ago. Just what Hackney Road needs!

Excited about another good cafe in the area. Dreadful flat white, one from Costa/Nero/Pret would be superior. One of the worst I have ever had. Won't be going back.

This is my new fave cafe! The scrambled eggs and chilli is delish, the sun shines through the window in the morning and the vibe is friendly and relaxed. I'm a flat white drinker and they do a great one.
