An Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea, how can you not try something like that? If anything, the Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea definitely has the novelty factor and thus a very strong selling point.

I went there on a lazy Friday afternoon, and was led to a wonderful outdoor seating area by an extremely smiley waiter. When you enter the garden, you immediately start to get a feel of the alice in wonderland theme. The chairs are white, the area is well lit (despite being shaded), and there are sufficient amounts of greenery to make you feel like you are sat in the garden, and was indeed participating in an afternoon tea held my Mr Mad Hatter himself.

Once you are sat down, the theme continues throughout, and really makes the experience a rather unique one. Instead of an ordinary menu, they cleverly put the menu into an old alice in wonderland book. Sugar cubes are put into a musical sugar box and your selection of tea is presented to you in the form of 3 potion bottles filled with tea leaves which you can smell. The cutlery (plates, forks, knives) used have alice in wonderland motifs as well.

When you have ordered your teas and coffees, they proceed to serve the food. The food is served on a tiered cake stand , and contains both sweet and savoury  items. Everything was fairly unique, but what really stood out to me, were the  marshmallow carrots and mushrooms. I've simply never seen anything like that before! Although everything was delicious, I have to be honest and say that whilst they were all above average, it was nothing to really rave about - in terms of taste - don't get me wrong, it tasted really really good, just nothing that blew my mind.

The great experience ended with  a delicious Jello which was made with lots of fruit (it was very clear from the consistency that this was no shop bought cheap mix - I suppose you would not expect any less for your money!).

Overall, I would rate this extremely highly. Their attention to detail really sets this place apart. I definitely feel like I was transported to another land...and all my work/life troubles just faded away... although, arguably, if I were alice, I'd probably have much bigger ones!

Very fun!  Great location, really tasty different options, and a lovely venue and concept.  Great spot for part of a hen do, or a birthday treat,
