Venue says July 14 is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than with real galettes and crepes!?

A crêperie with a cider bar in the basement.

What’s more deliciously French than crêpes? Crêpes, galettes and cider. Which makes Mamie’s crêperie-cum-cidrotheque – that’s a cider bar, bébé – basically the culinary equivalent of Brigitte Bardot.

Set across three levels of a Covent Garden space, the vibe is cosy-chic, with lots of hanging plants, warm lighting and a little open kitchen – which you can peak into and watch the chefs work their magic. On my visit the basement cider bar was still under construction, so it was pancakes only, ordered via a swish iPad system and dished up in what felt like seconds.

First up were the galettes, French savoury pancakes made with buckwheat flour. Combining the chewiness of a dosa with the buttery crispiness of a crêpe, it’s the quality of this flat fella that makes Mamie’s such a big deal. The Forest Complète was excellent – topped with a luxurious melding of emmental, garlic mushrooms, thin-cut ham and beautifully runny egg – but the galette itself is so good you can ask for it plain, a perfect light bite for £3.50.

Things are almost as good on the sweet side of the menu. The La Gauguin crêpe was a wonderfully boozy mess of flambéed banana and chantilly cream – and arrived at the table literally on fire. Feeling health-conscious? There’s an option on those iPads to make your crêpe vegan or dairy free. In fact, you can use them to build your own personal crêpe-galette nirvana from a range of luscious toppings (goat’s cheese, blue cheese, honey, sausage… ooh la la!). Once the cidrotheque’s up and running, I just might move in. Bon appétit.

We bring a whole new fresh spirit to our lovely neighborhood, thriving to bridge the gap between Breton and Briton cultures. We serve crêpes, galettes (made of buckwheat flour) and cider. As traditionally done in Brittany! The restaurant is split over three floors, two of which are the crêperie one of which is our cidrothèque in the basement. What is that are you wondering? Our very own cider bar or cider cellar, you name it... All we can tell you is that it’s the first of its kind in London! 😀

Very nice restaurant with tasty crepes! The Magritte one was just lovely!!


Since I live in London I come here quite often and just love the vibes of the restaurant! Their staff is mostly French (but they all speak English as well) and they are lovely. I definitely recommend the Brassens galette (Goat cheese & figs) and the cocktails (they are cider-based). The crêpes are just mouth-watering, the choice is always hard!

Being gluten intolerant, I use to drool over crepe places knowing I wouldnt be able to eat anything so Mamie's is the best! They have galettes made from buckwheat and so I went to town having a savoury and sweet pancake. 


For mains I opted for goats cheese and honey topped with salad and salmon. For dessert I shared a sweet pancake with pear, syrup and ice cream. So lush. The pancake itself was crispy and light. It was slightly salty which worked well with the sweet syrup and ice cream. 


You get given a little tablet which you can order from. The UX is great and its novel. 


Tip: book as this places gets busy.

I'm not a crepe lover, nor someone who like sweet food - but I love the crepes at mamie's! Went there for the first time ever with friends and everything's just so pretty. Highly recommended!

Ever since Hot Dinners announced in April that a new crepes & cider based restaurant was opening in Covent Garden, I’ve been one of those ridiculously annoying people who hangs around the shop waiting for it to open first thing in the morning. A little Twitter following and a visit while the poor team were still installing the chic copper fittings & minimal branding made me somewhat of a Gallic stalker but what can I say? I like crepes, I like cider, I like Covent Garden and thankfully I can now say that I like Mamie’s. I really like it.

Tucked away down Catherine St, this is a sweet little place that has a curious mix of the traditional – French galettes & crepes made to order – and the modern – ordering via iPad at the table. The last time I had to order my dinner via the legacy of Steve Jobs was at Inamo where the whole experience was as enjoyable as root canal surgery; here it was simple, uncomplicated & fuss-free with no waiter coming over to read back your order and no need to check in half an hour later as to where your supper was due to a frozen screen.

Inside on a crisp December evening with the Christmas lights twinkling outside, it was romantically dark & cosy with small ‘date night’ tables for two, larger spots for groups of friends and stools in the window, perfect for people watching on the eternally busy streets outside. Service is friendly and sincere and the food, quite frankly, splendid. Galettes are crazy light & crispy and also gluten free thanks to their buckwheat base. Ours came beautifully folded over a generous filling of goats’ cheese & honey and rolled around sausage, onions & wholegrain mustard; both were spot on in terms of flavour, texture and appearance plus at under £8 each and amply sized for sharing, they were a pretty-close-to-perfect price point. There’s also the option for anything you order to be personalised so if you fancy a bit of blue cheese, pear & walnut Edith Piaf atop your wafer thin, burnished gold & ham-cheese-and-egg stuffed galette, well then you go right ahead.

Crepes here brought to mind past summers holidaying on the French coast where a post-dinner stroll along the seafront to have dessert was a highlight of each salty, sun drenched evening. Beautifully thin & soft, go ultra classic with an understated sprinkling of lemon & sugar, indulge your inner 12 year old with chocolate & marshmallows or simply dive face first into La Magritte, which comes with home cooked apples, vanilla bean speckled ice-cream and one of the best caramels I’ve ever had. Sweet, sticky and liberally draped over the pancake, I’d happily have bought a bucket full to bathe in. Messy? Sure. Worth it? Hell yes.

Tangy, sweet & cloudy ciders from Brittany and Normandy hit the spot for us although there’s also a succinct yet decent looking cocktail menu that I’m pretty sure would lure me back again without too much effort one cold evening in January when the charm of the festive season is long gone. To be fair though, the cider is only one of the things that will bring me back to Mamie’s and even that will have to wrestle with those crispy galettes and THAT caramel sauce for the top spot in my list of reasons to return. If you need nourishment of the stomach and the spirit in Covent Garden, Mamie’s is exactly the place you’ve been waiting for….just not as long as me.

If you love good crepes and galettes, this place is definitely for you! Mamie's is a small corner of Brittany in the heart of busy Covent Garden. I have to admit it's one of my best foodie discovery of the past months....The atmosphere is very cosy and warm...and you have litterally the impression to be at home or at your granny's place! The staff is friendly and very efficient. They use an interactive menu where you choose salty or sweet crepes and also directly inform the cuisine of your allergies or any ingredients you'd like to add. The crepes are absolutely georgous! I recommend their 'Forest Complete' with emmantal, egg, ham and mushrooms. They also offer a nice selection of French and British ciders to accompany the crepes and galettes. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want to discover an authentic cuisine from Brittany. Already planning my visit!

MAMIE’S opened the summer near Covent Garden! This is a new crêperie, apparently the main concurrent of La Petite Bretagne. But believe me, if I have to choose, I pick MAMIE’S without a hesitation!


The restaurant is quite small, but really lovely and warm.


The menu is on a tablet and allows you to indicate your preferences and allergies to the cook downstairs.

On this tablet you can pass your order or ask for the bill, without having to keep your arm raised for ages to get attention.


The galettes are crispy as I like it and well garnished! I was more than happy to find back this taste of France in my plate!


I recommend you try a crepe with their salted caramel for the dessert! It is absolutely standing! ;)
