I was drawn to Flat Iron Square by the Royal Horticultural Society's takeover of the regular Flea market held here on weekends but inevitably my prying nose led me under the arches and into foodie heaven. There's a lot of choice here but Manti stood out as I'd genuinely never heard of Turkish dumplings before and they smelled fantastic - not to mention that everyone else seemed to be preoccupied with the pizza, ramen and other token street food being offered up by it's neighbours and so there was no queue at all.

It being unexpectedly understaffed on the day meant that the kiosk was being manned solely by one person at the busiest time of day - handling the orders, cooking, presentation and finances all at once and yet I was handed a bowl of freshly prepared dumplings and flatbread within 4 minutes of first ordering and the food gave absolutely no hint whatsoever of being in any way rushed or prepared under pressure. The lamb shoulder dumplings I tried were plump and so well seasoned - served on a bed of warm yoghurt, fresh tomato sauce, herbs and watercress. The whole thing was divine and disappeared so fast, with the help of the flatbread I truly believe that I could've fooled an onlooker into believing that my plate had never seen the sight of food before because I left no traces.

I will most certainly be back and am already planning attempts to try and recreate this dish at home. Delicious!
