Metro Garden Restaurant’s beautiful garden is the big draw card at this quirky south London venue. Set just opposite Clapham Common, the bar and its comfy couches boast a view across the park, while out the back there’s a marquee and fully al fresco seating allowing diners to make the most of long summer evenings amongst the potted geraniums and fairy lights. In colder weather, heaters are provided, though there’s also a cosy indoor dining area with church pews and a spacious conservatory to choose from. Modern European cuisine is peppered with more international influences so that duck breast on mash is spiced up with a pecan and cashew crust and kumquat jus and haddock comes with roast sweet potato, green beans and lime crème fraiche. A lot of thought has gone into the extensive wine list. There are also a number of special menus available – weekend brunch, Sunday roast and the ‘Supper Club’ prix fixe menus available Monday to Thursday evenings.

I've lived in the area for a few years and never ventured in here as the outside doesn't represent the cosiness of the fact I thought it was a hair dressers for ages. Walking in you're immediately hit with an open fire which is ideal in December! We were shown to our seats towards the back of the restaurant just before the conservatory which was a bit strange being half inside & half outside with heaters over our heads, but everywhere had mood lighting so I was happy.  Sadly the service in this place lets it down, we had to repeatedly ask for menus, to order wine, to order dinner, to ask for the bill etc. our waitress seemed rushed and more pre-occupied with keeping the large Xmas party crowd happy which was annoying.  We had booked the Xmas menu but they hadn't noted this so had to check with the chef who said it was fine but they were out of a few options.

I ordered the pie and mash which was massive and filling but could do with coming with more green veg.  This is a nice enough restaurant but I think they need to fine tune some areas to make me think about returning.

Gorgeous little bar and restaurant that goes completely unnoticed on the busy Claphma high st.  After a disastrous experience with Honky Tonk we took shelter in Metro whilst we figured out our plans for the day.  Instead of just staying for one drink as originally planned we found ourselves still in there 4 hours later. The food was great, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was lovely.  I will be back again soon!

Went to a private event here last weekend and what a gem in the middle of London. As a private hire venue I thought they did a really good job- they were serving burgers that were delicious to the punters and for people who do not want an open bar they offer a ticketing system in order for drink on your night not to exceed what you want to spend. The one negative I can think of is that the music needs to be a certain level- it is still high enough but people who might want a proper party at the venue it is not ideal and the other problem I found is that it is more of a chill venue and not so much of a dancy one. Still gorgeous and would recommend highly as a private hire venue in London for summer.

Lunch or dinner are good. Wonderful hidden gem even to some locals perhaps. Food simple but delightful. Staff incredibly welcoming and pleasant. Whether a romantic dinner or Sunday lunch with friends, very much worth the visit.

Great staff, great atmosphere, great food! Would definitely come back here again!

Found this oasis hidden at the back of the bar. Spent a glorious Sunday having lunch, which was excellent, full Sunday roast all the trimmings was lovely but then we sat in the garden on cushion and big comfy seats. It a had a feel of chill out bar's in Ibiza. Well worth checking out.

The staff are lovely too.
