Formerly called Moxon's, this fish and chip shop changed hands in October 2014.
The review below refers to Moxon’s, on the same site; the two are near-identical in style and menu, and the fish is still obtained from Moxon's fish shop a few doors away. Time Out Editors, October 2014
is an excellent idea: one of the London’s best fishmongers sets up a chippie virtually next door to its original shop, and fries up surplus fish that’s top-quality.
It got off to a poor start in the summer of 2012, with sloppy service, small portions and high prices; we gave it a two-star rating. Moxon's closed for a refurbishment that lasted several weeks, then reopened in September 2012.
We're happy to report things are now much improved. The service in now much more on the ball, and the tiny dining area – just a few seats – has been futher reduced in size so that the enlarged kitchen can now concentrate on the core takeaway business.
Our cod (£7.90) was good-sized piece (weighing more than 300g), and although slightly soggy under the batter, it was a fresh as any fish we've had in a chippy. The batter could have a little crisper, but the thickness was right. The accompaying chips were from hand-cut potatoes, pale golden in colour, and tasted properly of potato, with no scraps. Both were freshly fried to order.
A side dish of fennel salad (£2) was mandolin-thin, with shreds of black olive and parsley leaf adding colour.
Much improved the second time around then – and a very welcome addition in an area that has no other good fish and chip shop nearby.

I love this little gem food so fresh it makes me fall in love with fish all over again. Its so delicious i will be visiting soon
So a fish and chip shop that serves Lobster...that's just weird...right? I live close to Moxie's Fish Bar, but have always given it a wide berth based on the (even for London), extortionate prices. However, there is always a queue out of the door, and they obviously get good reviews, so I thought I ought to give it a try. Hmmmmm, maybe it was just one bad experience, but it was overpriced, lukewarm (at best), and my Haddock was not particularly well cooked - think dry, non-crispy batter and overcooked fish. Maybe I'll give it another chance, as they must be doing something right to still be in business, but based on my one and only experience, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!
They take great pride in there food. All the fish is sustainably caught and produce with the finest quality they source from the best suppliers around the British coast. Go and enjoy something from there menu and look out for the catch of the day.
I am very impressed such a great service I enjoyed there fresh fish and the service was excellent I will be visitng soon
This place did start badly but since its reopened it has been perfect. I've eaten there way too many times and every single time it was perfect. They have specials which are always the freshest. Great chips, containers keep the food warm and 'un-soggy'. Can't recommend enough.
hmm, less than average fish and chips. I had seen queues outside so was drawn in expecting something special. The food we received was okay - edible but really not much more. Chips were pale and tasteless. Fish was a little better, but still nothing to get even vaguely excited about. The whole meal was revived only by lashings and lashing of glorious, taste bud numbing vinegar. That's not great, is it? I would not go back, especially at the prices they charge.
top-quality fish. the perfectly cooked haddock was superbly swad. service was fantastic, especially the good looking lad, sean who looked after my every need. cant wait to go back!!
Good value for money - I had the Gurnard and Chips (chips are free with any fish if it's takeaway) for £6.50 and there was plenty of both. The best FnC's I've had in the country. Well cooked, super fresh fish and good service. The time out review doesn't do it justice.
This place is excellent. The fish was very fresh and the batter thin and crispy. Lovely salads too - we had the beetroot one.
