Thick savoury Punjabi curries, outstanding breads and succulent tandoori dishes are the mainstay of this Southall old-stager.

These capacious corner premises on a busy junction have seen profound changes since they first housed the Roxy caff. For many years the business operated as Sagoo & Takhar, a Punjabi canteen, but though the takeaway counter remains, two adjoining rooms now house a highly presentable restaurant. Polite black-clad waiters flit purposefully between tables full of local families, many of them Sikhs.

Know the strengths of Punjabi cuisine, and you’re likely to receive food of rare excellence. Choose a tandoori dish to start. Tandoori fish was succulent and tender beneath its tangy seared surface – far better than the slightly chewy golgappa (puffed poori shells to be filled with chickpeas, tamarind relish and mint water). Likewise, order thick, savoury Punjabi curries as a main course – the moreish dahl, or chicken methi full of flavoursome thigh meat and abundant fenugreek leaves – and accompany them with one of an outstanding array of breads (the tissue-thin roomali roti and the onion kulcha are recommended).

Smart, light furnishings and striking modern art also show how far the Roxy has travelled since its greasy-spoon days.

“ Thank you so much for your outstanding professionalism and warm hospitality shown to the above Roxy Restaurant. It was without a doubt one of the most memorable Wine Dinners I have attended – the wines were so perfectly matched with the food items – it really was a culinary delight!

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to you all for the fantastic venue, food, service

Your ambience and the food and the attentive and pleasant service. Thank you so much for having us. We are singing your praises to friends and family.

" It was a tremendous experience dining at your restaurant. There were a number of people who changed their reservations for Tuesday and came to you in the group night dinner. Everyone who dined with you put you at the top of their list. Without a doubt, I will return soon, rest assured that your business cards will be passed along, so thanks again and a hearty CHEERS!! “

! Warmest regards “

Excellent food, good service and very reasonably priced been going there for years and had a gap - went last week and the f ood was authentic and not at all greasy which is what you normally expect and get Would definitely reccomend !!

EXCELLENT! We visited Roxy's with a large group and were VERY warmly welcomed. The food was excellent, the restaurant funky but not too over the top or cheesy. Top, top top recommend!

About 5 years ago i was a student at Brunel University in Uxbridge, and used to bring my friends here on a regular basis! it was well worth the 20 minute drive! The food is great and felt like I was eating my mums food at home! On one visit, we started with Gol Gappe, only to re-order more and more portions as we loved it so much! We all had a three course meal consisting of only Gol Gappe!!! Other dishes are great too. Especially liked the Saag and Chole, and the Methi Roti! Iv tried mango lassi in every indian restaurant i got to, but Roxy's has the tastiest and u can taste the freshness! Service is good too. I like how the managers come personally to each customer and asked them if everything is ok and if they need anything else at all. Its a good buzz in the place and i can see why they are constantly busy. Only suggestion would be to make the restaurant even bigger so that more people can experience true punjabi food. I'd definately recommend this to others, as its one of my favourite restaurants in London.

Have really enjoyed our visits here. Most recent was Saturday 8 Dec. Favourite dishes are chili paneer sizzler, chole bhatura, stuffed parathas, vegetabe samosas and mango lassi. All these are certainly equal, if not better, than what you will find in North India. We are lucky to have such a gem of a place here in London. I am gald that the owners, including the 2 young sons, have stuck to the winning concept and kept the place and food honest to its origins. Oh, and service has always been friendly and welcoming.

Having been using this restaurant by my whole family since the late 1970's I have now without doubt realized that the staff are just out to rob you. Me and my wife came up from a long way there for some lunch and takeaway yesterday. 11.40am the doors were locked. 10 mins later they opened and they just would not admit that the doors were locked saying they open at 8.30. On top of that we waited 12 mins to be seen to,even though just us two customers in there, so decided to go elsewhere. Time before I was told they do NOT except card payment so I had to leave my family in there to go and find a cash machine, not easy around that area. Also remember being over charged and being served food that was just re-heated ! such a shame. Me and my whole family have washed our hands with this place after all those years. Horrible staff manners too. Going to stick with 'Mehifil' and takeaways from 'mohti mal'.

Very disappointed with the service. Took over an hour for the starters to arrive and they got the order wrong 3 times. Kids were left starving. A miserable experience. Would never go back. Food is average.

Went there yesterday. Disappointed by the lack of service considering the prices are not cheap. Ordered Karela price £4.75 and got 3 pieces. When complained said it was one short and brought the 4th piece. Did not have plain rice. How much time does one need to cook plain rice. I got the impression that they had pilav rice too much and were passing that over. Have been going there for 5 years but told the staff this is my last visit as prices are 5 star and service is 2 star

Four of us for lunch on Sunday 17 June with high hopes- it was a terrible experience- service was terribly slow with each dish following another after 15 minutes of wait, the quality of food was very poor and the conduct of senior managers shockingly rude when we expressed our disappointment. As three reasonable decent folk with two being my guests from Delhi for vacation here -we were asked to shut up or put up because they were short staffed and 'were doint their best'. My six year old granddaughter watched it all in amazement! When asked for the credit card machine and a proper bill (to replace a till foil) so we can see what we were being charged for (as the rice never turned up nor did the glasses for water!) we were told they did not take cards - we were asked to stop asking questions and complaining and just get off site- they did not want our money!! we left shaken and very upset at such bad treatment all round. Please avoid the place if you dont want a similar experience. Shame it used to be our favourite place some time ago!!

Food was good, service OK. Staff seem lazy, plates need to be cleaned, toilets are disgusting and a big shame. They really need to invest in bringing the place up to scratch.

Worst restaurant ive been to, service was appaling, we gt the wrong food delivered, the plates were dirty, the glasses were cheap plastic cups. It was busy but thats no excuse for poor service and manners, the manager refused to accept my complaint even when others also complained. Apalling.

You can usually tell if a place is good by how many of their own go there to eat...!!! Well the place is always full of indians - we've been dining at Roxy since we first came to the uk in1966 and now we are at our third generation of the family dining there. Delicious non pretentious food, and no doubt generation 4 will be arriving soon.

Fantastic! Amazing food, great friendly service. We've heard so much about this place and finally decided to try it with a group of friends and we were not disappointed. I they problem I had was that I was unable to try the deserts.. only because I was stuffed from the starters and mains!! Proper home cooked authentic Punjabi food! No wonder this place has lasted the test of time. 5 STARS!
