Oddonos ice cream South Ken 2015

Time Out says

With its bright blue and white colour scheme and its selection of Italian treats and drinks on the counter, Oddono’s certainly has the look and feel of a true gelateria. The chatter in French and Italian that fills the room also helps give the place a continental feel. Ice-cream is rich and indulgent; pistachio was properly good – velvety smooth and full of flavour.

Sadly, the stracciatella was a little over-generous with the chocolate, to the point where the scoop seemed to be more crunch than cream. Service was harassed, and staff were getting impatient with those bewildered by choice. Yet while Oddono’s may have been outshone by newer kids on the block, it remains a firm favourite churning out some lovely gelato. Worth a visit.

Oddono’s is an Italian gelateria that uses fresh natural ingredients located on Bute Street in South Kensington.

With a vast selection of gelatos to choose from, I opted for the Peanut Butter on a cone. As a true peanut butter lover, I found that it lacked that indulgence factor. It verged on average. Other flavours included Sicilian Pistachio, Coffee Hazelnut Chocolate and Chocolate Chip.

I couldn’t help but notice their icecream cake display cabinet which was rather sad. The cakes looked like they had just been sitting there for a while. The Cookies and Cream cake in particular was messy with dollops of cream that had sunk.

They also serve hot Belgian waffles. After my gelato experience, I don’t think I will be coming back to try them.

For a small icecream on a cone at £2.75 it isn’t pricey. Service was good. However, with all the high levels of competition in London with places such as Amorino and Chin Chin Labs, I would rather go there instead. This won’t be on my list of favourites.

The ice cream and sorbet at Oddono's are excellent and varied, but prices aren't low and the atmosphere isn't so wonderful. It's a functional rather than a pleasant place for an ice cream stop.

Oddono's is probably one of my top 2 places to go for ice cream (can't decide between here and Gelupo...) and it is because this no-frills almost solely takeaway (because it is impossible to get a seat!) gelataria does ice cream extremely well. Mango, Pistachio and Chocolate (there are multiple) are the to go for flavours! The staff are friendly and patient (it takes forever to decide what I want as I cannot decide if I should always go for old favourites or try one of the many others on offer). The stall is near to south kensington station, near to many other famous eateries which means that this is my go-to dessert place whenever I had dinner in the area!

It's not London's best gelato but it's not far off. It is pretty much exactly what you'd expect. An ice cream parlour. Styled to fit a grey London; it feels warm, cosy and cohesive. Other Italian delights are on offer aside from ice cream and the staff are friendly and help encourage an air of authenticity. My main objection is the short list of flavours, omitting some of my personal favourites.

Gorgeous ice cream, professional staff. Worth a visit whether you are a tourist or a local. Ice cream is as good as it is in Italy but this is to be found in South Kensington!

Always freshly made ice cream
Always a smile from the staff
Always a flavor you like
Always Always etc.

Best ice cream in London! Friendly staff, fresh flavours and always a wonderful treat.

Not a bad gelateria if you're in the area! I popped in with a friend after brunch a couple of weeks back and we both had the smallest cone. I liked that even though we got the smallest size, we were still able to pick 2 flavours! Not many ice cream places in London do this, other than Italian gelaterias I've noticed.

I went for classic flavours - chocolate and coffee. Again, even though it was the smallest size, the amount of gelato on the cone was generous. The gelato also tasted light and flavourful, as it did when I was in Italy! The fact that I'm lactose intolerant but still finished my cone surely says something about their gelato - it was worth the discomfort later ;)

Mmm Mmm Mmm. Man is this ice cream good!

I recently tried Oddono's at an ice cream festival - only a small taster but they got me hooked so I had promised to go to one of their stores and take my bf who LOVES ice cream (who doesn't?).

Oddono's have 5 ice cream parlours around London but the closest to us is in South Ken so after a picnic in Kensington Gardens (we ate an obscene amount to then gorge ourselves on ice cream but hey!) we toddled off to South Kensington.

The store is off a main street and to quote my bf it felt like 'a street that South Ken forgot' with kebab shops, corner shops and a lotta litter on the pavement. I therefore expected Oddono's to be empty but it was so busy and now I know why!

Inside there are seats, standing space and then at the front a lovely freezer full of their homemade delicious ice cream. Decor wise it feels a bit dated but the prices are reasonable and the staff so so friendly.

Currently if you check in on Yelp you receive a free scoop of ice cream in either a cone or cup. We both therefore checked in and were offered any flavour we liked. I couldn't decide between 2 and so was told I could have my scoop with 2 flavours (surely that's 2 scoops?) so I jumped at the offer and got pistachio and hazelnut, milk chocolate. My bf went for salted caramel and was a bit gutted he hadn't asked for 2 but that was his own fault! The scoops were bloomin huge - very generous of them. And all 3 flavours were brilliant!

Can't recommend this place enough! The only reason it isn't 5* is because it doesn't do anything different.

I think it's easy to think of Oddono's as another gelateria and with a good array of flavours. The key part everyone seems to miss is the authenticity of the flavours. The lengths they go to find the pistachios or the black cherries used in the mix - no addititves no colouring etc. Simply put it is the best quality gelato available in London never mind South Ken.

Best gelato in town, I normally go for the battersea branch, which has one of the friendliest staff I ever seen.

The best italian ice cream: every time a different special flavour with excellent ingredients!
from Nutella, Pandoro, vanilla to pistachio
"Life is too short to have a bad ice cream"... go for it at Oddono's

Best ice cream all over the world. I'm Italian and i know what is a good ice cream. And Oddono's is not only the best. No one can say this better than me. I travelled for work around 39 countrys and tasted about 357 ice creams, signed in my pocket-diary. The best. Try.

Great ice cream, coffee and a good vibe. A regular treat for us and the kids.
