Ive been to the Paxton a couple of times now, not shovelled down any of its culinary fare yet, but there's still time. They may have had a change over in terms of staff, but Ive never had an issue with being served, other than being vertically challenged and having to be on tip toes to see over the actual bar! The pub has a nice atmosphere, and there is plenty of outside seating, which is well laid out, and it seems very child-friendly. The layout inside is great - its light and airy. It seems like the sort of place where you get some decent portions and could be a solid option for a lazy Sunday lunch.

Great Pub shame about the staff never mind I now have their phone number so I can make an appointment to get served. but if you wish to get served by the bearded one I think you have to Mary into his family.

This pub is great! Having a two year old son I find it hard to find family friendly places where I feel comfortable going for a meal. A friend of mine introduced me to the Paxton the other day and I was left very impressed. Not only was there a wonderful play area in the back garden with a climbing frame for my little one to keep busy with, but the menu was diverse without straying too far from traditional pub food. When our food arrived the portions were generous and the food delicious and served with a smile.

On a recent trip to the Paxton on a lazy Sunday ended up with me guzzling one drink and leaving in disgust! Service was appalling ... Managed to find a small table as inside was chaotic ... Dirty tables filled with messy half eaten plates. Waitress avoided me and my friend and attended every table around us ... We felt invisible even though I was trying to get her attention! ... 3 attempts to order a drink was impossible ... As they had no clean glasses ... Bar staff were rinsing a wine glass infront of me! ... Tried to order 2 portions of chips ... Went to the bar only to be told that its table service and I replied that we had asked 3 times to be served and that we had to wait due to staff shortages! .... The chap in the kitchen who I can only assume was the head chef as he was running the pass ... Plated approx 20 plates of food whilst I was waiting at the bar again! Not once did he wash his hands or bothered to put on a pair of gloves but was happy to put his grubby mits in every bowl and container possible slopping it onto plates! Vile!! .... Sadly for me I won't be returning as this seems to be an ongoing experience for us at the Paxton ... Shame has its only down the road from where I live!

The staff, environment and food are all great! The pub quiz on a Wednesday night is the best £2 I have spent in ages! Really disappointed to miss it this week due to work commitments, I won't make that mistake again! Beer and wine is not cheap but certainly not the most expensive in the area and the reasonably priced good quality food off sets it anyway.

Have eaten here twice. Once for lunch and another time for dinner. Found the food to be nice. Lamb meatballs was extremely tasty....husband had the burger and he liked that too. We didn't have any alcohol so cannot comment on the price of beer etc. But overall experience was very nice. This pub is local to me, and would definitely go again.

We were very excited about our local pub reopening and the refurb they have done us great and they do have a good selection of Beers, but there are quite a few negatives already about this place. Beer prices are extremely expensive at £4.10 for Meantime! And the food is very average. The menu looks interesting but the food really doesn't taste that great. Pumpkin Curry doesn't even taste of curry it just has a lot of pepper added to the sauce!
