Ping Pong

Ping Pong makes dim sum for the not-always-initiated – ‘little steamed parcels of deliciousness’, in its own words. That means dumplings, and lots of ’em. Expect the full range of beef, chicken, seafood and vegetable options – not just steamed, mind, but fried too – plus soups, buns, rice dishes and desserts. Private rooms are available for parties and other events.

Next door to One New Change shopping centre and close to St. Paul’s Cathedral, pop in for a dim sum or two. Afterwards, simply wobble over the bridge and you’re at Tate Modern.

I recently (three months ago) started working in the area and my workmates have been raving on about the Triple 8 (for £8.88) set lunch menu. So yesterday I finally thought I shall give it a shot. The set lunch menus are a great value for money and allow you to try and array of items from the menu. It was a good meal, however it failed to wow in terms of taste. I still prefer the authentic Chinatown experience, but it was a good lunch regardless.

I always feel guilty for going back to the same restaurant twice when there are so many places to eat in London, but this is one of my favourites. I can never pass up the Char Sui Pork Buns, and there is always a changing seasonal menu. I've never eaten a bad thing here, and it is all reasonably priced. Happy hour cocktails for £5, and if you work in the area you can obtain a 15% discount. My only critique would be the staff take a long time to bring the bill out (it has happened on several occasions). They do have an app that you can use to pay the bill but it won't work if you need to split it as you can't distribute the service charge or discount.
