In terms of the food it's the same as every pizza express: nice variety of food and regularly changing menus, but slightly overpriced and lacking character in comparison to an authentic Italian restaurant. In terms of the service it's similar to most pizza expresses: When you order Bruschetta with the proper Italian pronunciation ("brusketta"), the waiters will go "Sorry? Oh, you mean bwushedda") and you want to yell at them: "No, I mean brrrusKetta. If you can't pronounce Italian words properly maybe you should not use them on your menus!" Speaking of waiters incompetence, I had a particularly bad experience at this branch of Pizza Express: Being a vegetarian I got confused when I read on the menu that the Grana Padano cheese they use on their pizzas is not suitable for vegetarians. So when the waitress came to take our order, I asked why that was so. She simply replied: “I don’t know, probably because it contains milk. It’s fine, it’s just Parmesan cheese.” Three points to make here: 1. Parmesan and Grana Padano are different cheeses; if you think they are the same you should not be a waitress in a Pizzeria. 2. The fact that cheese is made out of milk makes it unsuitable for vegans, not for vegetarians. 3. As I found out later (by looking online) the reason that Grana Padano is unsuitable for vegetarians is that rennet is used in its production. A waitress should be sufficiently qualified to know these things. I’m very very disappointed in the standard of service at this restaurant. Employing someone that incompetent and/or failing to train them adequately is simply unacceptable.
