I am a big fan of Pizza Express, I've visited many over the years, it was arguably part of my staple diet as a teenager!
I even worked at one for a bit one summer so I know the drill re customer service etc and I have a very good idea of what to expect from their food.

We popped in here on a Monday evening and I was really impressed with the decor - it felt like walking back in time with the old style Pizza Express tiles etc. it was lovely! It did however take quite a while for the waiter to take our order which was surprising as it wasn't busy.

Sadly, as a garlic butter addict I've got to say the garlic butter at this Coptic Street establishment tasted a little odd - there was something not quite right about it.

Not my favourite Pizza Express experience sadly!

Can I really write a review on a well known chain I asked myself. But I thought why not, I review everywhere else I go so why leave out the chains! I went to the Euston Road one so really close to Euston or Kings Cross.

Since I have lived in London I have avoided chain restaurants, too much choice of cool restaurants else where but it doesn't mean I always stay away and those tempting 'offers' drag you in.

However on this occasion my friend had a voucher of £15 so we put it towards a rather nice and very good temperature house rose blush wine. I am a fan of wine and I admit this one was good. We both opted for the same pizza - Romana pizza named Padana which was was Goat’s cheese, mozzarella, tomato, caramelised onion, spinach, red onion and garlic oil. I am not a vegetarian but this was lovely, no burnt crusts and perfectly acceptable.

The service was great, they left us to our table when they could see we still had wine but no food. They didn't rush us out and were prompt when we did request the bill.

My summary is it was a perfectly pleasant evening and nice food but it was what I expected and nothing to shout about. I did forget to take a picture too sorry picture lovers!
