STOP THE PRESS! The Tiramisu institution, Pompi from Rome has landed in Central London. We first tried the Pompi goodness in Rome on recommendation of a friend. After working through our first box, we went back for seconds (after a big dinner).
The branch in London, while small, serves up the same delicious excellence and I am so glad that my favourite dessert is now going to be easily available in London. If you've never tried this light and fluffy creamy goodness, have you even lived?
If you've ever visited Rome (Italy) you might know that Pompi is a go-to place when it comes to Tiramisu'. Just a few months ago it opened its first branch in Central London (Soho), following the opening of a branch in Richmond and I must say that their Tiramisu tastes just as the ones they prepare in Rome. The café is a bit small in terms of seating with only 4 tables, however, when it comes to Tiramisu' they offer 4 varieties: Classic, Hazelnut, Pistachio and Strawberry & Cream. My friend and I have opted for the Pistachio and Hazelnut ones and we were both pleasantly surprised. Our tiramisu' were both tasty, you could have recognized all the ingredients, from eggs to sponge fingers dipped in fresh coffee. The staff was also kind and patient in helping us decide which Tiramisu' to try. Certainly portions might not be huge and prices a little expensive, but surely it is worth it if you suddenly fancy a dessert or have nostalgia of Italy and its desserts.
PS: If you're in a rush they offer takeaways and if you're allergic to gluten they do have a gluten free Tiramisu option.
