My friend and I had the misfortune to visit Silverberry at lunchtime today. We both ordered the artichoke and celeriac soup and asked for it to be served very hot. My friend's was just about warm and I asked whether it had cream, which it did. As I don't eat dairy (and there was no indication it contained cream when ordering) I asked for an egg instead. The sweet waitress said that was fine and then Chad, one of the owners, came over. He spoke to me in a demeaning and highly offensive tone for several minutes saying it was down to me and what a waste that he had to throw it away etc etc. As the soup would have cost 30 p. at the most to make and he charged £5.50 I doubt it would seriously break him. It was only that I had already paid that I didn't walk out as he went on and on, getting ruder and ruder.
Even people at the next table looked shocked at his attitude and I most certainly won't return.
I stumbled upon the Silverberry Deli when looking for a quick bite for lunch. I most certainly was not expecting the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had. Now I have a permanent brunch place at a great price.
Superb coffee and salads. Makes me look forward to my next Royal Free appointment. Please open a branch nearer to Barnet
The Full English breakfast is consistently about the best I've had outside of my favourite farm shop cafe in Wiltshire. As close to healthy and wholesome as you could wish for. The coffee is great if my white cappuccino is anything to go by and it's lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by and be grateful you chose to stop awhile in this little oasis. A little gem.
It's not like Hampstead needs another deli but Silverberry has loads of atmosphere, great coffee and ace full English breakfasts. A winning Sunday morning haunt
