Best fish restaurant I have ever ever ever (did I say ever) ever been to! The fish was divine, I went for the two courses for 24 quid, which was an absolute bargain! I had the white bait for starters and the sea bass for main! Both were out of this world, along with the service. This was washed down with a mohito, which was amazeballs. My friend absolutely loved it too, I can't wait to go back! Top Tip Do The set course menu, much better value for money! Also make Sure you book a table, they get very busy!'

Famous for fish. The first thing I noticed was how wheelchair friendly it is. There's a nice ramp leading to the restaurant, accessible toilets (even though there was a heater blocking the entrance, but I forgive them) and a lift to the eating area. The restaurant is located by the river and is such a lovely place. Staff were friendly and did everything they could to meet my demands. Their fish come from sustainable sources ensuring high quality produce. Good variety on the menu and selection of wines. Overall, it was better than expected and would be perfect to bring a date or with a group of friends.

I came here for the work Christmas party. We work down the road in Wapping.

The location is great: very close to local pubs and Wapping station. The view could be better, but you can see Tower Bridge very well.

The food was very good. Salmon, capers and onions to start. The smoked salmon was very plentiful, fresh and thickly sliced so the texture was meaty. The main was pheasant wrapped in bacon with crispy parsnips. The bird was very moist and the bacon complimented it well.

The dessert was gorgeous... Belgian chocolate brownie with macadamia nuts, white icecream, peanut butter and caramel.

The meal was great, service was excellent. The wine was also very good, we had a sauvignon which was light, fruity and always chilled.

We had a family lunch on a Saturday. It was earlier this year and the weather warm so the doors were open leading onto the thames. The food was delicious - as it always has been when any of the family have dined there. The atmosphere is so comfortable and the staff so helpful and pleasant. We have always used Smiths at Ongar in the past, and it is so nice to know we can go to either restaurant and get fabulous food, good service and a nice friendly atmosphere. Smiths seem to have a real knack of providing an unpretentious, pleasant friendly dining experience.

I used to be a regular at Smiths, but I won't be going back again. We had a great meal but when it came to paying the bill the waitress cocked up with my credit card, triggering an automatic referral, then caused it to be blocked by repeatedly trying to put the payment through. Some 25 highly embarrassing minutes later I was finally able to pay but only after the manageress had been drafted in and I had to leave the table to speak to the credit card people to convince them it was ineptitude rather than fraud! It completely ruined our evening and a subsequent email of complaint was completely ignored so while there is no doubting the quality of the food at Smiths, the standard of customer care is atrocious.
