Opened in 1989, the family-run Standard serves provincial Bangladeshi and Indian food from a menu that is helpfully divided into 'medium-spicy', 'mild and creamy' and 'fairly hot', for the neophyte. Unsurprisingly, it includes all the standards, as well as popular Sylheti dishes from Bangladesh. A function room, seating up to 60, is also available for big parties.

This place is the actual bomb diggity. I've been here for two birthdays now and the food is great and it's one of those places in London where you can book a table for like 15+ people and it's absolutely not a problem. It's always full of large groups and it feels like there's always some sort of celebration going on. The staff is unbelievably friendly and patient and you can BYOB. Prices are reasonable too. What's not to love?

Standard is actually above average for Brick Lane. Definitely towards the sweet-and-creamy end of the curry scale but very good for all that. Get the chana puri to start, it's really nice.

Went last night, yes its busy but who cares!! We made friends with all the tables around us and even ended up sharing drinks! Totally brilliant! You can't do that anywhere else!

The food is SO tasty. I have been to so many Indian places and I was surprised how good this actually was. Make sure you order the lamb chops. Eat quickly and get out.. There are other people waiting you know!! Best restaurants

was so impressed by the quality and taste of the food, it really was exceptional. I had the lamb tikka bhuna with saffron rice with garlic nan. The freshness and quality of ingredients just oozed. The Atmosphere is something that I haven't experienced in any Indian restaurant, it was so upbeat. The waiters were friendly and charming and didn't try to sell up. They were knowledgeable about the menu. I would definitely recommend

Our favourite restaurant on the Lane - consistently great food and friendly service. Full of regulars so a good atmosphere and very affordable.
