Stir Coffee

Time Out says

Owners Sam and Anton seem genuinely surprised that their Brixton Hill café has won so many fans. They shouldn’t be. Coffee at this cheery corner spot is the real deal. Beans from Mission Coffee Works, Old Spike Roastery and Bristol’s Little and Long are brewed up with just the right amount of obsession. A black V60 was mellow enough for slow sipping; flat whites are velvety and fruity.

Big windows with counter seats let in lots of light at the front, while the darker back room has all the hipster trimmings with bare bricks and bare bulbs. But we really love the off-beat touches: old copies of National Geographic stacked on tables and shelves of used paperbacks for borrowing.

On the counter sandwiches include brioche buns stuffed with bacon, brie and maple syrup or avocado and halloumi on pumpernickel. Pastries, quiches and gluten-free cakes are supplied by Kat Bakes London. Go on, tuck in.

Stir boys will always turn that frown upside down! Excellent coffee served by excellent people. And a most excellent spoon collection.

Beautiful venue, fabulous coffee & the best almond croissants in town. Really lovely owners & super-friendly, efficient yet relaxed staff make this a great (and much-needed) addition to our neighbourhood. Only downside is that sometimes it gets too full!

Great coffee, great service, tasty tasty brownies & a relaxed vibe to enjoy it all in!

So glad to have these guys as part of my neighbourhood. Backbone for Brixton's coffee crowd: locals, mums, pro laptoppers and those just down for a chill over a solid brew. Excellent spoon collection. Expect equal parts great coffee, banter and sass.

Didn't think I would find a flat white as good as back in Melbourne, but it happened. Those guys know their craft.

Amazing coffee, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Competition is high in Brixton but Stir one step ahead.

Lovely collection of vintage teaspoons. Came upon this delightful café by accident and have been back since. Great coffee and pastries. Chatty staff.

Laid back atmosphere and great coffee. A genuine local hub with a real artisan clientele. It feels like the reason coffee bars were invented.

You don't get more of a welcome than at this place! Phenomenal coffee an an amazingly curated food selection from the best local suppliers. Run by the friendliest team with real passion for coffee, food and people! Dog and baby friendly, they embrace all the madness!

Lovely coffee place with very friendly staff and very good coffee. A great place to start off your weekend.

So glad to discover this place. Went to get out of the house and do a few hours work and ended up staying almost all day. Perfect coffee and a counter brimming with delicious home-made looking treats. Friendly staff, laid-back atmosphere. This is a place to bring your Mac (freelance crowd...) and let the time drift by.
