So i'm an american living in London, and occasionally i get a huge craving for mexican food, and i can't be bothered to trek into central london. So tonight when i googled Mexican in Richmond, i was surprised to find a restaurant come up, Texicana. Then i looked at the location and relaised that it was the same place that Med Kitchen had been not too long ago, which i thought was a bit strange. Then i went on their website, and their website said they were closed. I thought NO, how could a mexican restaurant open on my doorstep and i didn't find out until too late, so i googled some more and found out that it actually hadn't quite closed yet, but was going to be closing this weekend, so i had three days to get mexican food nearby. I then dragged my husband down to give it a try, he was quite sceptical, as it was closing, surely it couldn't be any good, as in richmond you get laughed out of girafe if you haven't booked on a Saturday. So generally even mediocre restaurants do alright. So we compromised, we would get a starter/bar snack and a drink and then see if we would stay for dinner. We ordered nachos, and each got a drink. The nachos arrived in about 2 minutes, which means they were microwaved, and they had courgettes in them. What recipe for nachos are they using? While we were eating out mediocre nachos, the table next to us got their mains, one of the ladies said, now remember i'm vegetarian, this is veggie right? to which the waiter said yeah yeah it's veggie. 20 seconds later she's calling him over saying, why does my veggie encalada have chicken in it, and she obviously got quite upset that they had fed her meat. After that we decided that, it was probably right that this place was shutting down, and that we should go somewhere else for our dinner. It might be in an amazing location in Richmond right on the river, but they clearly don't know how to run a restaurant. Also, how on earth can they think off running a mexican/tex mex restaurant without having burritos on the menu. I would still love a mexican restaurant near where i live, but just not this one... good riddance
